A nice October night
The family is away this weekend and I have the house to myself. It's a beautiful early fall night here. So put on my camping skirt and a cozy long sweater (along with the usual underthings and some leggings) I made some pumpkin pudding and some tea and sat by the fire in the back yard till just now, almost midnight. Listened to the trains a couple of miles away and all the night sounds.
I don't usually think in terms of masculine or feminine but I felt feminine tonight, as if being peacefully tuned in to all the little night sounds in my solitude was somehow more feminine than masculine. Whatever that means.
I still can't figure out how to sit ladylike in a skirt on the ground by the fire. I suppose if my knees were better the fake lotus position would work but although that used to be a favorite way to sit it's no longer a good idea.
Good night noises (and ladies) everywhere.

A little history from whence I speak.... A friend and I used to go to the park to watch "moon landings". That's watching girls trying to sit in the grass and now and then we got a tushy show. And ssssoooo.... The easiest way to sit and present nothing to the viewers was/is the "flop and drop". The girls would basically put a hand in front, cross their legs and drop to the ground. They sat too fast to see and holding the skirt down meant no fly away.
At this point, you are sitting cross-legged and you have made sure your skirt is covering the important parts and in the back, the skirt is flowing around you. Otherwise, you can take the moment to get yourself arranged.
As for the "dainty?" once you're parked, you have a few choices for where to put your legs but honestly, cross-legged is comfortable and "safe".
Hope this helps.

Hi Zari--
There's no one around but me this weekend, same as yourself. My girlfriend's health issues keep her close to home, but this weekend she went to her parents in Stockton, along with her ex-wife and both daughters. It's a little strange being here by myself.
So that sounded like fun, being by the fire on a fall night. We live about 8 blocks from a commuter railroad. Never notice it much in the daytime, but at night the trains sound like they're in the back yard.
Sitting on the ground like that makes me go "ouch" just thinking about it. Give me one of Carol Ann's lawn chairs, please.

It's always a bit strange, both happy and sad at once, when everyone is gone. But I'm glad your girlfriend was able to get out. Being confined by ill health really sucks.
Actually I had a lawn chair, which I found most useful if I leaned against it as a back rest while sitting on the ground.

I sit on the back deck usually, the neighbor on the one side is a hermit and we never see her, the other ones I don't think have ever noticed anything, but they have a nice front porch & spend most of their time there while we are in back. We have a neighbor across the street, he is a scruffy little redneck looking fool...does not work or anything and lives off his elderly mother, for some reason I do not feel comfortable with him seeing me, not where we live with our child...he just does not seem "right" and I would not want him to see me and then embarrass my son...I would hate to have to knock the stink off of him!!! All jokes aside, our end of the street is fine exept that one person, he never goes anywhere, always dirty, unshaved...sitting around on the steps smoking & watching everyone's business...there are many times I would love to go out and do some yard work or sit and have a drink wearning something feminine, but I just have a feeling I don't want that guy to see it...he makes me uncomfortable.
