Boot size as compared to shoe size...

Post by Andrea Elise »

I recently bought a pair of very nice fahion boots that turned out to be slightly too big in size but I found that a pair of knee high cotton socks not only fixes the problem, but is very comfortable.

Question: When I buy boots, I have always found them too big if bought to my normal size 11. I have to buy a size and a half smaller for a good fit with nylons or panty hose. Is that normal? Do all womens boots run large in size?

Donna, all I can say is that it must just be my "luck".

I have three pairs of boots that are all about 1 1/2 size too large.

One pair bought at a local store and two mail order.

I will not buy any footwear that I cannot try on as I have rather wide foot and even when I am in shoe shop it is still a pain to get good fitting shoes in women's shoes (11.5 - 12) sorry I do not know the conversion to US size, its about 44/45 in the EU. in other words choice is pretty limited. :( :(
Keeping them cupped comfortably.

Did it again. Merona brand boots from Target.

At least one full size too big. Learned my lesson, they go back tomorrow.

Slow learner, I guess.

Andrea, might it be the brand of the boots you are getting. Some brands run small and some run larger. Do you try them on in the store before getting them?

Bought mine at Lane Bryant and they fit well. Only thing is they are wide in the calf.

Like everything these days, it depends on who's making what as to how it fits me. Generally, my boots do tend to run a little larger than my shoes, but I prefer that anyway. I like the socks for the extra cushioning all around my entire foot, not just the bottom.

You have me thinking because tomorrow; I'm likely to wear a different pair of my boots. I think I wear socks with that pair. :) Part of tomorrow's adventure out I guess.

I never buy shoes without trying them on, and even in male mode my shoe size can vary by up to an entire size depending on the shoe, much less boots.

Where I live, a guy in any shape or form trying on any feminine articles would be persecuted. It would not be good.

I keep a very low profile.

Arderia, I think it has a lot to do with comfort level and percieved impressions.

I have tried on and bought heels at Payless about 60 miles away from you and have shopped the Good Will and thrift stores from North Platte to Grand Island.

Years ago I decided I realy didn't care what people thought of me. I didn't go all out to throw them, but I wasn't going to get a haircut just because someone thought I needed one.

For 28 of the last 30 years I have lived in or near towns with populations of less than 300 and people with an atitude that if Dad did it that way then that is the way it is to be done. ( Does that sound familiar?)

Some of the people in those small towms think I am a little strange, but they have elected me to be in charge of the finiances for 2 clubs. ( I am not sure wether that is trust, respect or finding someone to do it.) When they needed help they have not been afraid to call.

There are always going to be those who make fun or try to make things miserable for others and delight in putting others down.

Okay, I posted yesterday and was wondering if my boots were all the same size. So the tally for me is 2 pairs of boots are true to size and one is large. if I find another pair buried in my stash, I don't have a clue how that will size up.

Leeza,

Exactly right, percieved impressions. Right out of my brain, which is 1 1/2 sizes too small!

Maybe after I retire, I might be more forward. Right now, I can not afford to loose my job. It is just that simple. Yes, I would like to be more open about who I am, but it is just not worth the consequences that "might" come. (Worrying about things that will never happen)

I say "might", also there is the promise I made to my wife to stay low profile. I will not cause her embarrassment, nor do I wish her to suffer situations that might be difficult for her, such as one of her co workers approaching her with questions she would find difficult (for her) to answer. I just don't want that at all.

In many ways I am far too concerned with the feelings of others.

I know that what you say works for you. I would say that anyone who knows, or has met you, would have respect for you and value you as a friend. It's obvious to me that trust and respect are exactly why you are the financial officer in two clubs.

I admit it, I have walls that I have carefully built that are thick and strong. They are getting less substantial with each passing day. I'm a snail, as I drag my walls around with me where ever I go.

I'm working on it. Though you may not know it, Leeza, you have been a huge help to me and an inspiration in all of this.

An interesting name you addressed me with. I like it! ..rofl..

Is that because I am more work than I'm worth? :)

The Target shopping I do by web. The shoes fit perfectly. The Merona branded boots do not and I have another pair, from Payless, that were the same, 1 and a half size too big. I have heard that shoe size is directly related to the length of the foot. Some one's ruler has a problem! Yes, if I could just get over myself to simply try them on in the store......

First off sorry for the misspelling.

I understand the low profile especialy when it comes to your lovely wife. Yes her feelings need to be considered.
Maybe after I retire,
Retirement does have its advantages.

You now after meeting me that I have a big head. Keep it up and I won't be able to find a wig that fits. LOL And then you follow it up with more stuff to make my head swell.

If I ever get to pushy let me know. I just want to be a support for you and any others I can help.
