Every year I always have a few resolutions, most of which never come to fruition, but this year I want things to be different...I plan on fulfilling my resolutions.
Number one, I want and need to be true to myself...how I implement that not sure yet, but for 40 years to this day, I still hide who I really am from most of the people who know me. This has to change.
I need to be myself in public as much as possible, as I am in private...this means dressing and presenting myself as I see fit. Wearing the things I want and not being afraid of stranger's reactions.
This year is going to be difficult, but I am going to try hard and stay the course. Life is too short to keep hiding and worrying what people will think.
There are going to be those times, those moments when I exit my vehicle in a department store parking lot or walk into the dentist's office and the fear sets in...it should be like breathing to be who you are, it should not be a task.
This will be the year that I face it, I hope, I hope I have the strength to stand firm and walk into that store or dentist's office dressed how I want, without fear and head held high.
Thinking about my New Year's Resolutions

I am always a bit sceptical about New Year’s resolutions, as I have the feeling that if you really want to make a change in your life, or your habits then this can, and should be done at any time of the year. For myself I know that new year’s resolutions have never been kept, I may start with a wave of enthusiasm, but at some point drift back into my old habits.
That being said New Year is a time when we do tend to look back and assess our life to date, and look forward to how we want to be, or what we aspire to. Also I do know that for some people these resolutions do work, one year my Brother, serial failures in giving up smoking, announced that twelve months he was going to give up all drugs – alcohol, nicotine and any other non prescription drugs – and he did it. But then my brother is a very special person whose achievements I am in awe of.
O do hope that you do succeed, and as Davita says, each time you manage this it is a victory, message your success count your victories, forget the other occasions, and have a very happy and fulfilling year
