Buying a Wig.
Tomorrow, Monday, I am going to Sonja's Wig Salon in Worcester, Ma. to buy a wig. I'll let you know how it goes. Nancy knows and is Ok with it. I've done my research, so I have an Idea of what I want. Short, and on the feminine side of androgynous. I'm going to go grey, because my face is too beat to try looking young.

It is fun shopping for a wig. Part of that, for me, is not knowing exactly what I can get that might suit me (I get an instinct for when something is going to work - that and my face tends to change with the wig on rather than "fight" it). One thing to bear in mind is that women do dye their hair as they get older - so that even with a relatively "old" face various colours can work if you're being a woman.

Ouch! Look your age??? I'm not ready. I believe in dying hair, but if a woman is dying it every week, then yeah, bite the bullet. Sooooooo I'm considering getting a wig that's starting to gray.
If you don't have to go fully gray, why would you want to?
Just a thought.
As for shopping in person? Got to; it's the easiest even if you're a nervous wreck. Playing with snail mail and return processes is such an aggravation and can be so slow to wind up with nothing in the end.
Have a wonderful time shopping! Relax and enjoy it.

I am such a meathead! I had called Sonja's awhile ago and a nice lady I spoke with had confirmed that they welcome CD's. She recommended an appointment if I was going to come dressed, but said I didn't need one if I was coming drab. So this morning, having arranged for a monday off, I jumped into my car and headed off to Sonja's. It's about an hour away. Halfway there I called on my cell just to give them a heads up that I was coming. I got a recording telling me they are open tuesday through saturday. DOHHHH!!!
Kinda forgot to write that down when I talked to her. Now I'll have to schedule another vacation day. Oh well, I consoled myself with new heels from payless, and bangles from Claire's.

Hi April Rose,
That is a shame. I wonder how wide-spread it is that hair-related shops like hair salons and wig stores are closed on Monday. I remember that back awhile I realized that those shops were closed Mondays here (NJ) too, probably since everyone wants to have nice hair for the weekend so salons' "weekend" is Sunday to Monday.

Sorry you did not get to do what you planned. But glad you made the best of it and did some other femme things. That is life and we can roll with it or get rolled over. Way to roll forward.

Yes, Friday and Saturday were the big days as people dressed for the weekend.

My Mother had a beauty shop for over 50 years. Although she was open on Mondays it was always a very slow day. Had her shop not been in the home I think she would have closed.I wonder how wide-spread it is that hair-related shops like hair salons and wig stores are closed on Monday
