Saturday at Staples
A couple of weeks ago my wife and I went to Staples to buy supplies for the local Library. I was in boy mode then as we went from Staples to the Library. well this past Saturday we went again to the same Staples to look at wood file cabinets for the home office. This time I was in girl mode. Well the very same SA that helped us a couple of weeks ago saw us and came up and said hello. I got a little uneasy since I was not sure if he was going to recognize me or not. He greeted us as "Ladies" and asked my wife if her husband had any problem getting the two large items out of the car. Wife said "no, not at all". He then asked if us two ladies need any help. Wife said we were looking for a wood filing cabinet. He showed us the ones on display and after checking them out, we selected one to take home. All the time we were in the store, not once did he look at me weird or anything. I did not say much but after we got in the car to leave, my wife commented, "That was interesting". I answered, 'Yep, it was". Guess I am passing better these days. LOL

Yes, that was interesting. BTW, it doesn't necessarily mean you are passing better. You probably are doing pretty good anyway. kewl It could just mean the guy didn't put two and two together
My understanding is my eyes give me away, but others just say they recognize me and can't quite put a finger on why. If they don't recognize me, I just have to say something.
So anyway, glad it went well either way. And... glad you found the stuff you needed. Good job on both counts, girl.

Hi JoAnn--
In the end, it doesn't matter how it came about, it's the overall experience that's so much fun. Even with people who know, I still get treated in a way that works for me.
In reading this again, I'd say there's a chance that the SA did not recognize you. If I were in his place, it would take some practice to inquire about the "husband," all the while knowing that he was right there. It would be harder to 'pretend' to be fooled, is all I'm saying, if I were to make a statement like that.

To me the big key is the SA treated you like a person and just like any other customer. IMHO while your actual look is part of it, more of it is your comfort level with yourself and your wife's comfort level. I am glad you and your wife are able to enjoy time out together.
From what you have said I do not believe he did recognize you. To say those things about you as the husband as if you were not there had to mean he did not see you as the husband.
