You've all heard me say plenty of times that I go out wearing what I like, and have not really had any issues.
Well last night was rather an exception. I went to a place that I go quite often for dinner and a few beers. After I'd been there maybe 15-20 minutes one of the guys starts acting pretty obnoxious to me. He was with several other guys who then really started getting on his case about it. The bartender, who I know pretty well, at one point told him to lay off, and then asked me not to take the guy seriously. So after a little bit, I suppose when he figured out that he wasn't getting any help from his friends, he decided to drop it and ignore me.
Some time later, one of the guys with him made a point of introducing himself and being really friendly, probably in an effort to make amends for his friends behaviour. Also, that guy owns a bar down the road a little bit and maybe has heard that I'm pretty generous with tips :P
So it turned out to be uneventful after all, though I was getting a little worried that it might turn ugly. But at the end of the day, one guy was a jerk but several others proved themselves to be pretty decent. I consider it to be a positive night, the guy who wanted to make an issue out of it was shut down by his friends, so chalk one up for our team.

For me that's why I don't go to bar's or club's, I prefer daylight outings [-(

I agree. That was good to hear about, and I'm glad you came out OK.

Glad it turned out well. I am with Carol and why I stick to main stream places away from bars and clubs for the most part.

A very mixed experience, I'm not at all sure that I would have the courage to go into a pub / bar or club on my own, unless I was assured of a good reception. These days I tend to stick to daylight in public places, for the safety as much as anything else, while of course avoiding McDonalds.

You gals are right, usually bars and pubs are a bad idea. This one is more of a resteraunt/bar, not exactly upscale but about as close to it as you get in northern WI. I go there many times, and it's never been a problem.
I know it's kind of taking chances, but I figure that progress can be made only when we directly challenge the bigots. I just refuse to let some ignorant buffoon dictate where I eat dinner and what I wear while doing it.

I just had to comment on that line! I'm from Wisconsin, myself! The best food you can find is not in some fancy place, but rathern in these little places with home cooked meals.

And if you like fish ... these kinds of places are really great on Friday nights!

I can see why you would want to frequent them regardless how you are dressed. The food and conversation is second to none!

My wife and I go out to eat many times with me in Girl Mode. So far we have never had a problem. Once at a T-Girl Convention, a couple of us went to the Hotel bar for drinks. This one guy started saying foul things about us to others that he was with. His buddies had the expression that said, "Dude, shut up or your going to get us all in trouble". he started to walk over to us when the lady bartender come over ans told him she want no trouble from him. His buddies quickly threw money on their table, grabbed him and whisked him out the door.

Funny thing is none of the other guests in the Hotel had any problem with us. A lot of stares but no problems.
