Trapped in a boys body

This is a subject that has always interested me as a result of my own early years experiences. 60 years ago such conditions were NOT recognised at all. Today it is a condition that is recognised even though there is controversy on the subject, but as I say 60 years ago there was NO recognition, hence NO controversy.

My younger brother liked to play with dolls as a child. When he was about 3 my grandmother gave him a doll for a bday present. Somehow this made him not like to play with dolls any more.

Well the child in the article may well be transexual, the article really glosses over a lot of stuff. To my mind choice of playthings is not a great indicator or gender dysmorphia. If it was, a number of women I know would be FTM, but they are all adamant that they are women and like that.

About the only thing in the article in my opinion that tells me the child is in fact a girl in a boys body is that the child themselves insists that this is so. Which is not surprising, children often know things without being able to explain how they know.

The article is interesting in it's portrayal of the adults, in particular the parent who felt she should have been consulted before the assembly, although I was not clear if this was the parent of the child in question or some other parent.

It was another parent. It is not clear, however, whether that parent was accepting or not.

It's a shame some of the accepting kids will have to go home and have their minds corrupted by bigoted parents.
