Are there any thin girls out there? How do you eat?

Congratulations on the progress so far Anne. I'm no expert, but I've heard that weight can fluctuate from day to day, so probably it's best not to worry much about that. Your clothes are fitting better and you feel better, so that is much more important. Doing yard work is great excercise, and I think it's more interesting than going to the gym, and it's certainly more useful. Why pay a gardener and then pay the gym, when you can get all the excercise you need in your own yard, and wear a cute sundress while doing it?
I've been taking a lot of saw palmetto (about 2-3 times the recommended dose) and it has helped with my breasts a little bit. I think growing breasts at the same time as losing weight is really hard, usually breasts grow better when you're gaining weight. So you might need to lose the weight first, then put a little back on, hopefully in all the right places. This is my plan, I'll let you know how it goes.

Hi Ralitsa, last night I broke down and ate, 193 this morning but back on track today. I needed that psychologically. I am taking flax seed and saw palmetto, funegreek (sp) and fennel, actually alot of different supplements and breast enhancer pills contain a laundry list of these are supposed to help, along with breast massage, and some actual exercises that target the pectorial muscles are all supposed to help. But, I do need my caffiene, and chocolate in the coffee every morning! I WANT AT LEAST SOME MODEST BREASTS EVEN IF JUST AN A CUP! I figure if they arn't really large over the B range a shirt will cover them up with a sports bra underneath if needed. We will see....

Absolutely, unless you life in Beckenham, Bromley or Croydon, in which case you really need to have a skilled professional gardener and just suffer the trips to the gym.

This morning at 188. pounds, not sure how many stone that is. We had our anniversary, messed up for a few days, so I took another look, moving more calories to lunch. so 292.5 calories at breakfast, 440. at lunch, and 467.5-500 calories at dinner. Weight loss over a longer period is more successful anyway than crash dieting, still for someone of medium frame, 5'5.5 tall, eating 1200-1300 calories ensures weight loss without exercise. Still experimenting with breast enhancement, somehow I believe it may be working?? some changes are so very gradual that change is nearly imperceptible and you wonder but have a hunch that things are moving in the right direction - hum...we'll see.... I am under no illusions that I will look like Bo Derek in "10" but she does not fit my ideal anyway and it is unrealistic that we should expect a change in the shape of our bones and perhaps even disposition of fat - testosterone has cooked our masculine frames into the books. Even so I believe I would enjoy some modest size A or B breasts because my gender is as it is and I would enjoy seeing my own chest, as I enjoy seening and feeling shaved legs, glossy red toenails, a thin waist it would be a thrill and an inspiration as well. I have even taken to wearing my bikini and laying by a window with the sun streaming in - would love feminine tan lines. I don't really run around anymore with my shirt off anyway at 54!

I believe my success will be in learning how to eat like a normal person. People who are thin are satisfied taking in about 500 calories per meal, they do not snack for comfort for hours especially at night, they don't snack between meals. A diabetic told me one time that she takes in just enough food (or fuel) to make it to the next meal- that statement has stuck with me because she was absolutely right - this is the correct way to view our meals. If they have a treat - say a beer - they don't have desert that night. If I am to be successful for the rest of my life I will not be dieting but I will continue to weigh daily, take immediate action when needed, and my whole way of eating will have to shift permanently. I do plan to start walking or jogging when I am down to 173. I may take some of the edge off the gray - Just for men makes a nice hair color that does this - but not sure yet as your hair gets that faded hair when the die fades over time... Would like to allow my hair to grow modestly longer, at least over my ears somewhat. It is truly remarkable how well all of this works even in middle age - something very simple which allows you to eat whatever you please as long as you keep a running tab of your calories (portion size depends on the number of calories - that is all) All of this is absolutely free, very simple and very easy - and is more of a lifestyle change and not a diet because I am eating the way any nutritionist would dictate - a balanced diet is the goal, shave 250-500 calories off of the number of calories you should be taking in for your height, frame, and activity level, doing it over a long time, then adding back the 250-500 calories when you reach you ideal weight. Will post more updates as I near my goal.

Glad things are going so well Anne, keep up the good work. As you say, it's a lifestyle change and it's the small changes over a long time that have a big impact.
I am getting a small amount of breast development (very small) and it took almost 2 years to happen. So I think it can happen for you too, but don't expect it to be quick. I am quite happy with it, but of course want more. I guess I'm developing the obsession with my breasts that so many women have, looking at them, wishing they were bigger, picking out pretty bra's and being disappointed that I can't fill them up. The nice part of it though is that I have some "valid reason" for wearing bras now, and instead of getting breast forms, which a woman would do only under unusual circumstances, I wear "lingerie enhancements" which are available at Target and women wear all the time, exactly for the same reason I'm doing it. So it's OK that I have small breasts, because that is what most women have, and I can feel the same breast envy that they all feel.
Anyway, good luck with future developments (pun intended, although it was a lame one).

Back on track at 183. this morning (7 day moving average 184.07) I really like Weight Commander(.com?) by Michael Marder - it's a free download and has lots of encouraging information, a neat program. We had our 20th Anniversary on the August 31st, went to Ourtback, then the church had a luncheon, in between a few binges (I really am a "food-a-holic"...Yes, "Hi, I'm Anne and I'm a Food-a-holic." So benders come occasionally, then I kind of hit a plateau for several days which can be discouraging throwing me into a bender - but I want to weigh 173 and if not disturbed I will reach it. At that point I may toy with 168?? those rats who are slightly underweight live longer - rat an operative word there... but I am not into the death camp look so no lower than 168. If I am able to maintain successfully and change my eating habits it should allow a couple hundred (200) extra calories - but It will take experimentation to see what the appropriate ammounts are. I am currently eating about 1200 calories a day and am 5'9.5" with a medium frame but am very lightly active - or perhaps at 54 my metabolism has just slowed down - I read you have to subtract 9 calories per year after 45 or 50 years of age.
Sorry for rambling - but I'm a retired fem-male....

I love food, and after gaining 3 pounds in one night of binging, 185.5 this morning even on the tanito scale I have to ask why I want to lose weight when it is so much easier to eat whatever I want and gain weight? I am fighting to drop into the 170's as I am growing tired of fighting over the same number of pounds in the low 180's, at the same time I am reasoning how can I realistically continue to consume just a little over 1200 calories the rest of my life, weighing and counting my calories most every day and passing on snacks, and foods when I would much rather be stuffing my face? WE ALL FACE THIS WHEN WE TRY TO LOSE WEIGHT. So, Why do I want to lose weight since it is true that we lose weight for ourselves?
1. I hate being fat.
2. I want to look nice in whatever clothing I wear.
3 I want to fit in and feel positive "vibes" from people because I am fit and thin.
4. Health (stave off the risk of various ailments of age such as Type 2 Diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol, heart disease, arthritis from joints under stress from carrying excess weight, respiratory problems which can be caused by being over weight)
5 I want to feel better like I did when I was younger.
6 It's the closest thing we have to a fountain of youth to turn back the clock.

To achieve this we have to realize there is sacrafice and work involved in weight control (occasional hunger, having to resist the urge to eat more than we know we should).

OK, I will swear to my Diary I will continue on just like Bridget Jones...

It's all about changing your eating habits, then an occasional bit of excess won't matter as much.

Good article here http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-14882832 this make sense and the BBC is always authoritative.

There is a difference between being authoritative and being right. They depend on the research and writings of others for their information too., so don't let reputation blind you to alternatives when you hear dogmatic statements. :)

I'm also drawing on my own experience of weight loss, many years ago with Weight Watchers, for me the weight loss was not too hard I lost about 3 stone (over 50 lbs) in a few months. The trick was keeping it off, I changed my habits, lost my sweet tooth and cut out snacks, 30 years later I have kept those habits and maintained a reasonable weight. These days a combination of sensible balanced eating and an active lifestyle keep me a pretty consistent 165 - 170 lbs.
