another great shopping trip

Post by Ralitsa »

on Friday I had a bit of time to kill before meeting a friend, so I decided to stop off at Talbots. They have a store pretty close to where I was going, which I had been to before. The last time I was there I bought a really pretty blue dress that I absolutely love, and hate that I don't have more opportunity to wear, but one of the ladies told me then that I could make a private appointment sometime if I wanted.
Well I didn't call ahead to make an appointment, I just stopped in. But when the SA asked if she could help me, I asked about the subject of appointments and she said something like "yes of course, I'm the one you talked to on the phone." I hadn't ever called on the phone, so I guess there's another one around, but anyway I got her name and promised I would call ahead next time.
But of course I had to look around a little since I was there. So I was just casually looking through some blouses and another SA commented on how pretty they were and that she had one in green, but I was looking at the wrong size. So she found me the right size, and then I asked if she had any skirts that would go with it.
Before long, we were having a great time. The first SA had joined us also, so they were both [arguing] or maybe [discussing] is a better choice, about which colors and patterns were best for me. They had totally opposite opinions on a few of the things, so I was glad that it's not just me that can't decide what looks best :P
The best part was, they helped me find the size that really fit me correctly. I ended up getting the skirts in 10 petite, since I don't have enough butt to fill up a misses size. And I got the blouses in 10 misses. Then I decided to sign up for their charge card, since I was getting so much, which made it 25% off. Which meant that I could then buy the dress that had caught my eye when I first came in the store.
So I ended up spending $380, but I'm really happy because the clothes are really stylish and look great. And they actually fit me perfectly, I didn't have to decide between what looks good and what fits right and what is available. This time I got what I really wanted. And of course both ladies were very encouraging, and exceptionally friendly and helpful, so I will probably be buying most of my clothes there in the future (except for shoes, which I buy in Bulgaria).
Compared to my most recent visits to Macy's and JCPenny, where I didn't find anything that I liked much, this was a great success. Of course the prices are much higher at Talbots, but I think that getting good quality and beautiful clothes that fit so well is worth the money.

ouches to the sticker shock! BUT, as you said the quality should be there and the fit is right now. I like Talbot's too but since I don't wear any one outfit much, I can actually go cheap and inexpensive.

Glad you had a wonderful time, but I am surprised they didn't sneak you into a dressing room after all. Isn't it wonderful to let down your guard and just let the sales folk take care of you?

well Davita, they did sneak me into a dressing room and brought me piles of stuff to try on. I sort of glossed over the details there :)

but it was a great time, and the best part is that they really and seriously helped me to find the sizes that fit me best. you all know that I have lots of stuff, dozens of dresses and skirts, so just buying more isn't necessarily exciting. but these skirts look so nice on me, I can't believe it.
the quality, and the fit, and the style, and color, all of it is just so perfect I could stand looking in the mirror all day :)

Talbot's is a great place to shop. The quality of the merchandise is the best. There attention to detail in the hems and seams is fantastic. Great that you can wear the 10 petite skirts and dresses and blouses in 10 misses. Enjoy the outfits and be sure to hang them up.... :)
