First I suppose I really ought to apologise for the pun. over at Paula's place http://paula-paulasplace.blogspot.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I have been writing a bit about trying to buy a bra that fits. I recently had a lot of my "stuff" stolen from the back of my van, this included some boosters that I had been using to enhance my bust (well give me one at all) these had been adequate when combined with a very padded bra, but since the bras have gone as well I thought it was time to try some proper forms. So I hit e-bay and bought some mail order, I am very happy with the way they feel and look ~ I love the extra weight and the bounce. This is all excellent except that it means the bras I still have don't really fit any more, and I don't know what size to buy.
I did pick up a couple of cheapies at Matalan the other day, but yesterday since I unexpectedly had some free time due to the weather I popped into Bromley main shopping center just to look. I actually went as far as to get measured in two different shops. The first measured me while I still had my dress on, gave me a size which then discovered they didn't stock in any "interesting" styles, the other store measured me in the bra I was wearing even though I had already said that I didn't think it was the right size (this one has removable padding which I had taken out, but I think it is still just a touch too small) there they came up with another different size, they also gave me a couple of bras to try but the cup size was definitely too big, (DD so I'm actually glad not to be that big) then the store was closing, so I had to stop.
So after all that I still don't know what size to buy, maybe I'll just get something pretty and hope..........

I had a bra fitting last year at the Playtex store and all the women ask me was did you bring your forms, I ended up with two very nice bras and two I can wear with out forms.
Now I know what to get when I shop for myself

Here's a page at Doreen's Fashions - E. London CD retailer where I bought my forms - that has a link to a breastform size chart on it.
http://www.doreenfashions.com/store/bre ... forms.html
I don't know if it helps. I went there saying I wanted forms for 38D (which by some weird process of elimination I decided was "my" size - though sometimes it's 38C). But you seem to have the opposite problem - forms without bras.
The chart has numbers in boxes which correspond the sizes of the forms that Doreens sell (i.e there is no such thing as a 38D form, just a number - 7). But I don't know if these are universal or applicable to the forms you have.

Re: Bras and Boobs, whats the form?
Anthony,
You are very correct, forms come in a SIZE not a bra size. Your 38 is your size around your back not the size of your breast. Depending on how big your body size is you buy to fit your figure which you are comfortable.
I am 5'8" wt 180 medium build so #6 about a nice C cup fits my frame very well, now hon you can go as big as you want or as small as you want all depends on how large you wish to be.
Hay hope I helped

Seems to me it would be easier just to go into the dressing room with a 38C and a 38D to see which fits the best. Note that not all manufacturers use the same measurements.

Re: Bras and Boobs, whats the form?
First, the simple answer to the "38" is that nine times out of ten, your sports coat/suit size will be your bra's band size. Cup size is measured as inches bigger than your band. An a cup for a 38 would be a measurement of 39 across the nipples. BTW, the band is measure under the breasts -- that's how come the coat size and bra size get to be a pretty good match.
Okay, so you already have the forms. Simply hold them in place and take your measurement and do the "chart" for band versus breast measurements to get your cup size. As Donna said, bras vary so you will be getting a starting point, then you need to decide the style of bra and adjust the cup and maybe band sizes again.
I envy your hunt

Re: Bras and Boobs, whats the form?
Today was another rainy day so I was at a lose end until my wife asked me to buy her some knickers if I was going out, like I need t be asked to go and do some lingerie shopping! While I was in Marks and Spark I looked at their bra and pantie sets, not too taken with any of them so I then looked in just about every appropriate shop in Croydon including La Senza, I was after something in black, not too naughty but fun. everything I saw that I liked wasn't in a size that would be anywhere near fitting me, either far too big a cup size or far to small a band size ~ I know I'm a freak but but I didn't expect these problems. Just as I was leaving for the car park I went back into the Allders lingerie department and found that they had a lot of items on some very special offers, I ended up with two bras (one black plain and one lacy white) ad matching panties for £12.50, and I was encouraged to try them on first to make sure that I got the right size.
It almost stops me complaining about teh rain.

Paula, sounds like some good SA's. You should always try on bras before buying due to sizing differences.Paula G wrote:.... I was encouraged to try them on first to make sure that I got the right size.
