Checking in to motels

General talk about CD/TGing and gender topics that aren't necessarily fun things we do while en femme, or for gender-driven discussions.

Checking in to motels

Post by Grace »

Has anyone checked into a motel en femme? How did you deal with the ID question? I have a credit card in my femme name, but no picture ID. I'm traveling this weekend, and I'd love to stay dressed the whole time. If it were enough just to pay in cash, that would be great, but I've noticed most motels and hotels now photocopy your driver's license.

Thanks.

Year before last I took a trip out to British Columbia, via the Canadian route coming back through the Northern US.

Travelled both ways totally femme, however at that time had no ID in my femme name including credit cards Etc.

Was gone for close to 5 weeks, and had no problems at all regarding identification, including when Crossing the border into the States at Bellington Washington, and back into Ontario at Sault. St. Marie Ont.

At that time my passport was in my male name and had no problems at all.

The only question had asked was by the Customs inspector at Bellingham Washington, when he said and what brings you all the way out here.

Told him was visiting my cousin over in Port Alberni. His answer was, have a good and safe trip home

I have chatted with other girls that have both crossed the border enfemme and also stayed in Motels on the American side who have had no problems.

After all remember they want our $$$ no matter where we are from

I've done all the combinations. Checked in en fem and checked out drab. Did it the other way around. All the hotels/motels need is a valid ID and that kinda proves you own the credit card and have an address to chase you down if they have to. Gone are the days when a credit card is ID. As for a fem name on credit cards? You don't even have to have a real name on the card; the credit account will have the valid name. My cards are my 1st initial and last name. You can use your fem credit card drab and if they ask for ID? You have the same last name on the card right? Good enough for 99.99% of the time.

Back to the hotels/motels. Even after checking in one way, I could should up at the counter to be asking questions, getting extra coffee, whatever. You are one of a billion zillion people. Not that you are unremarkable, but to them... you are.

Go, enjoy, don't give it a second thought. Leave your makeup out on the bathroom counter. Don't worry about anyone seeing a nightgown on the bathroom hook or tossed on the bed. Heck, you leave the gown on the bed, they are going to neatly put it on your pillow.

I can only think of one hotel I checked into en femme when my ID still reflected a male identity, but it was a non-issue. I didn't worry about the fact that I hadn't updated my credit cards, either. There's no requirement that you reserve the room under your legal name, and cross-dressing is common enough that presenting a credit card and ID under a male name shouldn't cause any problems though it might raise an eyebrow or two.

I'd be much more concerned about using a credit card you don't have ID to match. There are no laws against dressing as you please, but attempting to deceive someone about your identity is anther matter.

Last year I travelled to France, crossing the channel, booking into three hotels, eating drinking and sleeping getting my van repaired and everything else en femme. I only have cards driving license and passport in my male name. The only issue on returning to the UK passport control asked me to take off my sun glasses.

i wrote this trip up as a 5 part multi entry blog, first part here http://paula-paulasplace.blogspot.co.uk ... part1.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thanks for all the encouragement. I took the plunge and checked into a motel. I was hoping for a female receptionist, thinking that would be easier, burt I needn't have feared. The receptionist was male, and he didn't blink and eye. Of course, I'll never know what went through his minde, but I was fully en femme, and spoke in my female voice. No problem.

Another bridge crossed, and if feels great!

Way to go Grace!

I've learned that mostly the fear is all in my head. Once I get past the initial first step, I relax and enjoy myself, no matter what I'm doing en-femme. I'm glad to hear you've done the same. Be careful, but don't let it stop you from enjoying yourself.

Hugs,
Kyra

I do it all the time. Hotels and motels have never been any problem at all, many times they don't even bother to check my drivers licence. Rental car places always check drivers licenses, but I've never yet met one who cared what I was wearing.
The only time anyone has slightly hesitated was when I go through security at an airport. Sometimes they have to look a couple times before they are convinced that the woman standing in front of them is the guy in the passport photo. If I'm wearing a hat or sunglasses, they might ask me to take that off, but otherwise they have never said a thing.
But I think it's an important point, what you wear is a non-issue, but using a false identity is a major issue. I've never told anyone that I am female, and I've never used a false ID. I wear what I like, and many people assume that I'm a woman, and I do not discourage that assumption. But the people that need to know are given the correct information, it's just that very few people need to know.
