Drinking when your out and clubbing

General talk about CD/TGing and gender topics that aren't necessarily fun things we do while en femme, or for gender-driven discussions.

Drinking when your out and clubbing

Post by Millie »

I was wondering if like myself, if any here have different drinking preferences when they are clubbing ala femme. For me, when I'm Millie I like to have a margarita mostly, sometimes wine.

When I'm my male self its always beer.

I only have non-alcoholic drinks when I know I am driving. Which is usually always.

Otherwise I would have a rum/coke or an amaretto/7-up in either mode.

As Paula I will more often drink white wine when out "he" will nearly always be on pints of bitter Paula sticks to halves. Some of this is what feels more ladylike yet my good GG friend S nearly always drinks pins of beer. Interestingly Paula has a different taste in coffee to "him"

I tried doing the "lady" thing and drink wine when en fem and it was okay, but my wine drinking is a home event thing with my extended family. They are wine drinkers and I'll drink with them. Soooo I drink whatever I am in the mood for en fem. I have had a couple guys ask if I really liked the dark beer I was drinking and said certainly. They seemed pleased that a woman would like "their" beer. Heck, my watering hole when I'm out en fem is a brewpub. I'm a hard liquor drinker as well and I like a good strong highball. If I drank that en fem, the folks around would think I just had a cola. Ever drink Campari? I drink it straight. It's a very pretty bright red; looks like a lady's drink, but no one will touch it if they sampled it.

For 20 years of living in Portland I was an enthusiastic pub habitue, specializing in very dark ales and stouts in the winter, and Bridgeport IPA in the summer. Late nights, depending on the company, I'd drink scotch or gin, both on the rocks. I dislike mixed drinks other than Margueritas and vanishingly dry Martinis.

In Sunnyvale nowadays, I drink Lagunitas IPA (rarely, Beth dislikes the smell of beer) or scotch and water. Age takes its toll, and liquor makes me clumsier than a herd of oxen, so I'm backing off.

I have no en femme tipple because I still don't go out dressed. The bars here are almost all meat markets or business/tourist hangouts. No real pubs to speak of, and Beth's friends seem to favor karaoke places, which I find as achingly terrible as watching American Idol. Maybe in silks I'd find I loved it. Maybe not.

Got to be careful with the drinks! Anytime while going out I would always schnock down a couple for courage's sake. Another time at a club, I neglected to pay a cover charge then the bartender slipped me a mickey. Needless to say I fell on my backside on the main street sidewalk. Very embarrassing. Wound up missing my turn to the highway, at 12:30 a.m....with a police cruiser behind me......had to shake him off by continuing to drive 20 miles out of the way to sleep the night in my office!
Way too much of a close call for me being fully dressed! Could you imagine getting stopped by the police in my condition and dress!!! Never do that again!

I guess I've never given a lot of thought to a connection between what I'm drinking and my gender. I don't drink much, but when I'm not eating I've always leaned toward mixed drinks of various descriptions. That's been true whether I'm lounging poolside on vacation or out dancing, before and after transition. When dining I'm more likely to drink wine or beer that suits the food in question, unless it's a Mexican meal and then a margarita or mojito seems like a good complement.

I've been wondering myself, has anyone heard from Jeannie?

For me it's mostly wine, red or white, If I drink beer its dark beer,or heavy beer, with no fruit. ( Anyone who puts fruit in beer simply must be killed; I'm sorry, there are no exceptions here. White shoes after labor day I might forgive ,if it's the first time, and proper regret is expressed, along with a sincere apology, and a firm promise not to repeat the offense. But fruit? In beer?! I'm sorry, but we have to draw the line somewhere, otherwise society will unravel!) ..OO..

Anyway, the other night, I sat out on the front porch, enfemme, sipping a bourbon and soda. It was a lovely spring evening and a very pleasant way to pass the time. I only drink on the weekends though. I'm a teetotaller during the workweek.

Sorry, hon, but that whole fashion scenario ("no white shoes before Memorial Day or after Labor Day") is very much outdated and no longer true. =D>

White shoes may be worn at any time of the year provided they are in keeping with the entire outfit. It's the same thing with the 'shoes and purse must match' or 'shoes must compliment the clothing closest to it (ie, slacks, skirt, dress)' . . . and to all of those former fashion faux pas I say a heartfelt good riddance!!!

"You're probably rght, SL; If I try to enforce "No white shoes after labor day", they might start enforcing " no dresses for men" then where woud I be?! The fruit in beer thing, though; it's just ....SCARY...... _P
