vacationing in Holland

So I decided that is would be a fabulous idea to take an 8 day vacation in Holland with a woman I had never met.
We have chatted on Skype quite a lot, and she knows about my propensity for wearing womens clothes. She said she is OK with it, and so the issue seemed to be settled.

We met in Amsterdam on Saturday morning, I was wearing a light blue dress and black heels. I picked the dress partly because it is a really bright shade of blue that would be very easy to spot across the airport terminal, and also because I don't remember ever having worn it before, and it's a color I like very much.
I didn't bring with me any "guy clothes" for this vacation, which isn't so unusual for me actually. But usually I bring along some slacks and a shirt that are sort of non-commital, in case I need to attend something where I need to act semi-normal.
So for the last couple days we have been travelling around Holland, and I am happy to say I have not worn pants the whole time. I brought 3 or 4 dresses, a couple skirts, half a dozen blouses, and one pair of jeans and a pair of capris. So far I haven't needed the jeans or capris yet. It's really quite nice wearing all the things I like, without trying to hide it from anyone. I don't really try to pass, but I do wear some make-up and try to make my hair look nice. I don't have much luck with my hair though.

Good for you hon, my wife hates the airport in Amsterdam. She spent two weeks in Germany with our DIL parents.
But she did manage to bring home some tulips

that's curious, AMS is probably the best managed airport that I have ever been in (and I've been in some).

Today we didn't do much. We are staying at a Bed & Breakfast not far from Rotterdam, and it is a really peaceful and pleasant place. So after breakfast, and sitting around, getting dressed, putting on make-up we went out and did basically nothing
I guess that is what vacations are about. I did finally get the chance to wear my light blouse, it's very cute and I've been wanting to wear it with this skirt for a while, but it really is for warm weather. Well this morning it was nice and sunny so I put it on, later it got rainy but we were inside so it didn't matter. The only bad thing about the day is that I punched a really huge hole in my pantyhose which completely wrecked them. Fortunately the damage didn't extend below the level of my skirt, so it was not evident to anyone else.

At the moment scuba gear might be more appropriate ~ do you hae time for a day in Brugges? my favorite place to just sit out on the pavement with a cold beer and watch the world

yes, scuba gear would have been. It rained I think every day, it was a good think I brought some sweaters and long skirts. It definitely was not sundress weather.
This might have been my most satisfying trip ever, I had along the right outfits, the right shoes, and had the chance to wear just about everything in my suitcase at least once. I didn't get the opportunity to wear my LBD though, every night we went out it was too cold and rainy for that.
All in all it was a good trip. There were only a few occasions when some children (not all of whom were under the age of 18) made some scene, which I didn't really expect there.
So I just came back into the US and am at the airport in Detroit. I'm wearing my "Annie Oakley" dress and some high heeled boots I got at a 2nd hand store in Amsterdam. For some strange reason, coming through customs was a bit more troublesome than normal. I brought back some tulip bulbs (of course) and so they had to check that. But they didn't run me through the agricultural inspection line, but the full inspection line. The ladies there took EVERYTHING out of my suitcases. I'm pretty sure they were more interested in checking out my clothes than inspecting for contraband. One of the ladies was giving me a hard time about having mud on my shoes, how bad it looked, and it's the first thing people notice, and I shouldn't be putting dirty shoes on top of clean dresses, etc. So that made me realize that I don't usually think about such things. And now I will be cleaning shoes tonight.

I may just be the reputation Amsterdam has for, err, fringe benefits.

yeah, it does have that reputation. while they were playing with my clothes they were asking me a lot of questions about why I went there, pretending to be official but I'm pretty sure it was personal curiosity. So I told them that I was meeting someone there, and they asked if we smoked a lot of weed, and I told them "no, but I drank a lot of beer, and some wine." not surprisingly, the wine there isn't that great. really just about anywhere else has better wine (except China).
