Bad makeup days
My goodness, I've lost my touch with makeup and look horrible (I believe) ...Any hints, girls?...I'm getting discouraged - some days it falls into place and some days - like today - I could just scream!!!!!!

Re: Bad makeup days
It can be that while I'm applying the makeup in a way that doesn't seem that different from before, I can look horrible in the mirror (when before it was OK). With me, how much I "go" into the woman - kind of animate the face I make with makeup - can vary a great deal with mood and stress and even time of day. Sometimes It looks quite good, sometimes it doesn't work and it can also switch from one to another quite quickly.
Another thing that affects the way I look in the mirror (and by extension in photos) is the intensity of the light I'm working with, its direction and how diffuse it is. I look a lot better in standard room lighting. Both flash and bright daylight are harsh lighting conditions which tend to bring out the male, heavier elements of my face while reducing the effect of blush, lipstick and eyemakeup.

Re: Bad makeup days
I never have bad makeup days..... oh wait.... I HAVE bad makeup days. Mostly my problem is when I feel I'm not pretty enough to start with then I tend to load on the makeup. Never a good idea.
If you notice going awry and you have the time, I recommend cleaning up, taking a breath and starting over. The next time will actually go easier and you will feel better about the results.
