Do You Get Upset If A Favorite Store Cloeses Down

Post by Belinda »

I was very upset to discover that my local branch of Dorothy Perkins in the uk had closed down. There is another one but its part of an outlet store that encompasses Wallis and other stores. There was a magic about my local Dorothy Perkins and I never had enough time or money to buy what I want. Subscscribed online recently they have gorgeous things there. Defintely one of my favourite chanis stores and I love their selection of tights.

I doubt I'd get upset over a store closing if I never had enough time or money to buy what I wanted in the store.

There was a store called "Underworld" near where I live - selling all manner and makes of women's underwear. I think I pined after going in there for a number of years but could never get up the courage. Then I saw one day that they seemed to have the builders in. I wasn't sure whether that meant they had closed down or were just doing refurbishments.

It turned out to be the latter - but it basically encouraged me to go in there while they were still around. I got a corselette which is probably still my best (I'm very keen on corselettes). Recently the shop did close down but there was a note on the door saying they were trading from a couple of doors up - in anothe store's premises. So they're still there, kind of...

I do get upset when I see shops close down, but in general that's been other stuff than women's clothes. Apart from anything, it just tells you how bad the economy's got in the past few years. Mostly that's what I get upset about...

I'm disappointed when a decent store closes and it doesn't matter if it's fem things or not.

If you have visited my website, the gown on the home page was gotten from a store going out of business. That was very sad for me because I had plans for more gowns. I was sad when a local Penny's outlet closed because they carried talls in the store, saving me 50 miles to touch the same clothes.

One or two stores closing can change the whole nature of a town centre, too many of our high streets are being taken over by resturants/bars, estate agents and one or two cheap chains, but what I really miss are the independent department stores, like Arding and Hobbs, Grants Brothers, and the like. Of course they are still around in the West End of London, but I can't travel up there too often.

I think we all hate to think of our favorite stores closing, but it is a fact of life.

Stores close for many reason: Change of ownership of a building, lack of sales, owner dying or retiring, or health reasons to name a few.

I only know of one store in this area that has been in operation for over a hundred years and it has changed its mode of operation over the years to stay up with the times. It happens to be a hardware store and is very interesting to go into as there is still some of the old stuff there high up on the shelves

My favorite store was the Tall Girls Shop in NY
It closed a few years ago and it was where
I was able to try on and buy Clothes that
were tall enough for me and the SAs were great
and help fit me too.

I miss the Dress Code branch in Tallahassee that closed some years back. I got all my skirt suits there, they had Adolfo's, and they had great foundations and accessories. They are still on the the internet and some other states, but it is not the same.

Outside clothing though, I miss all the little book stores that keep closing, and other local specialty stores. I'm afraid it's headed towards the way it was in some movie I saw once where, in the future, all the restaurants belong to Taco Bell.......
