Using Milk of Magnesia as a primer

Post by Ashley Ann »

Has anyone tried this?
I've read about and watched some great reviews on using it.
Allegedly it helps with oiliness and will allow makeup to last all day.
I'm going to try it out this weekend but was wondering if anyone has any experience with it.
I have very sensitive skin so I'm a little scared but not enough to stop me from at least trying it once.
If you have any experience with it please let me know, I'll also post how it worked for me.

Oiliness? What happened to a nice gentle soap? Why do we women like to make simple chemical reacts into rocket science? Let's keep adding more and more chemicals to our concoctions until we get a result that costs too much every time we use it and that doesn't produce significantly better results than using basic simple solutions?

It would be interesting to try it just to see what the hype is about, but for me, a nice inexpensive soap works just fine. What I need is something that adds back all the skin I ground off from a too close shave.

I have not heard of using milk of magnesia as a primer coat for make up.

However, I have been told by a make up expert, and later by a drag queen, that using hemarroid ointment like Preparation H on the lines around the eyes can temporarily smooth them out, lasting at least a few hours. They cautioned about doing it too often as that seemed to make the lines entrench more deeply than before. But the make up expert said use it when you just must hide those lines. I have not used that technique myself, but I have seen the results and they look quite satisfactory. It apparently works by temporarily plumping the skin in the lines in some way. Oh, and they did say to get a tube just for your amke-up kit rather than reuse a tube that was used rectally. Just common sense I would think.

Soap and Sea breeze work great for oily skin for the first couple hours then its back.... at least for me anyway :(
I was looking for an oil controlling foundation when I found the links about MoM.
Guess we will all know more tomorrow after I get to try it! :)

Looking forward to hearing about it, Ashley.

Thanks... Hopefully it works then. Heck, it probably is cheaper than a "cosmetic" solution.

I'm very happy with the results of using MoM as a primer.
It's very easy to use, cheap and really controls the oil and shine!
I've had MoM with Revlon Colorstay foundation on for 10+ hours with very little shine in the forehead / nose area.
If you have oily skin I highly recommend using MoM. ..^..
