so Danica got 8th place. I was really hoping that she would win, maybe it's just me but I'd really like to see a girl win at Daytona, for a change. She ran a good race, but I was a bit disappointed in the final lap when she dropped from 3 to 8. I guess she probably was too
I had the feeling that she was playing it safe and not going for everything, but still she finished higher than any other woman has. Anyway, I'm pretty happy she did as well as she did. Maybe next year, right??

If the car had anything left, she should have made a move on the last lap, before the others came up on the left blocking her in.

In the last lap shuffle anything can happen. It looked like the outside row, the lane that had been fastest all day, just couldn't match Johnson's speed, and with cars in front of her, she had nowhere to go. Then, when the pack shuffled from three wide back to two, she momentarily lost the draft, and with that any hope of moving up. Still, she used good judgement and didn't wreck and saved a top ten finish. The Daytona 500's TV ratings were up this year, and I'm willing to bet it had a lot to do with her Pole Position, and the publicity it brought. Nascar needs Danica as much as Danica needs Nascar.
