When The Shop Assistants Knew It Was For Me
Have you ever shopped dressed in drab and sensed that the shop assistants knew that the items were for you. This has happened to me a few times I remember years ago buying a pair of pattenred tights in a ladies dress shop and saying that I have been looking for this style of hosiery everywhere. No funny looks the S.A. said she wore a pair a few days previously, as if I was another Woman, it is so gratifying.
Another time I went through a phase of shopping in my local Dorothy Perkins and buying outfits on three seperate occasions and being served by the same assistant who obviously sensed the clothes were for me. It also happened one Christmas when I was dress shopping in my local branch of Oasis in the Uk. The assistant told me that she didnt have a dress I took a fancy to in a size 16, she sensed my disapointment but was very tactful. I do think that all these expreriences add an extra frisson to shopping its now my goal to pluck up the courage and say the items are for me.

I find when you shop at stores that cater to women sizing they get it. I always go to the stores in drab. And I have had very good experinces at Avenue, Lane bryant, and Cathrines.. At Catherines Plus the SA nicely asked if i knew my size. I haven't been offered the dressing rooms but I am too nervous to ask. So i don't know how accomodating that would be.

Darcy, just ask. They will either explain why they can't at the moment -- and it will be at the moment, or they will find a way to get you a room.
Belinda, as said so many times..... sales people need to make sales. Your money is good. Actually our money is better because when we girls are treated right , we spend more and more often.
I shop so much I never give it a second thought to say what I like, not like and if I really want it or not. Shopping is supposed to be fun as well as getting what you want. Relax and quit worrying about it.

Re: When The Shop Assistants Knew It Was For Me
I have a different set-up, in that I always expect SA's to work out that it's for me. My general experience is that I get into a kind of "don't ask, don't tell" zone. Like most of the time nothing is said explicitly, but there's a kind of vibe, which can be either positive or negative, acknowledging that the stuff is probably for me.
I actually think that a lot of the reaction is determined by the rest of the way I interact - like with the other customers, or the SA's themselves. Like if I treat the whole thing as a fun experience and the SA as someone worth talking to, that tends to bring dividends.
I am usually as straight as I can be. But there is a distinct subset, where the SA (usually female) is determined to think that the stuff I'm buying is for a notional female partner - and I go along with that.
With wigs and shoes (and coats because of my shoulders) I've got to try things on, so of course the SA knows it's for me. I've had quite a lot of nice interactions like that. It's really nice when I get an SA who just really wants to give her best in helping get me dressed up as a woman.

Sometimes, then sometimes I'll make a comment that will tell them instantly that I'm either making a joke or it is in fact for me.

oh boy! i used to sweat like crazy when i used to shop for panties, felt like everyone was looking at me and i was sure the SA knew they were for me, i was very afraid of being found out, but that was then. now i don't care, when i go shopping i usually wear something feminine and my nails are always painted either red or pink, so i guess now they really do know.

Re: When The Shop Assistants Knew It Was For Me
The last time I was shopping for a dress the SA caught on right away it was for me. She asked if she could help me find something and I told her I was just looking around. Probably most guys shopping for a SO are not just looking around, I don't know, but she told me that if I wanted to try anything on just let her know.
I had been in that store before, so maybe she recognized me but I didn't recognize her. So I did find 3 dresses that I wanted to try on, and also asked her to give me an opinion on which she liked better on me. And of course I followed her advice and got the one she recommended.

There have been times when I bought stuff for my wife and myself at the same time. We have similar tastes and sizes. It gave me an interesting perspective on this.

First of all. when was the last time you or any guy really went
shopping to find a "gift" for his wife? Just be honest and
admit you are shopping for yourself and you will
get great cooperation from the SA. They want to sell product
not pass judgement. It becomes more fun for the seller and the buyer.

Re: When The Shop Assistants Knew It Was For Me
It was my wife's birthday in January, and yes I did go shopping for a present for her, she had dropped some pretty heavy hints that she wanted some perfume. on other odd occasions I have bought clothes for my wife, underwear in Marks, and occasionally if I see something that she might like and wear in a charity shop. What is quite fun is explaining to the SA that I a buying for her when I am dressed. It should be obvious I am a size 16 my wife is a size 22/24

Re: When The Shop Assistants Knew It Was For Me
I shop a lot for my wife, especially around Christmas and her birthday
Now here is a funny story. Most guys of course don't shop for their wife when it comes to buying stuff like bras. But several years ago, for my halloween costume, I bought a bra. It being Halloween, I had great fun with the sales ladies explaining that it was for me and they seemed to enjoy subjecting a man to the whole proceedure- a sort of "now you know what we have to put up with thing" I went back and they all admired my costume. Afterwards, I gave the bra to my wife. She really liked it, said it was one of the most comfortable ones she'd ever had. Some time later I went to get her more of them. The store was no longer there, so I went to JC Penneys, bra in hand, and explained what I was looking for and why. The SA was very helpful and seemed to get a kick out of it. I explained how it had been mine, I gave it to my wife, and so on. I don't know if she believed me, but I was certainly confused enough that I didn't seem all that experienced. And what I was saying was in fact true. The model had been discontinued, so I bought one of what she suggested. My wife liked it, so a few weeks later I went back with the tag and a list of desired colors. Again I had to enlist the SAs help. WIth the tag and list she probably did believe me. The SA commented that my wife was fortunate to have such a nice husband. I like to think that she believed me, since I was in fact telling the truth, and I think that sort of thing comes across, as much in what is not said as in what is.
One little tidbit. When the model I wanted wasn't there, and also when I went back with my list, both times the SA volunteered the information that she wore a certain brand and found it comfortable. She seemed to just be being helpful. I was tempted to get into a discussion of what I like, but didn't.

Re: When The Shop Assistants Knew It Was For Me
I bought my wife bras once. She had a sever sunburn, so I got her some racerback front closure bras. She'd never worn that type before, but found them quite comfortable.
I reckon she was glad I was trans then!
The SA never asked me anything about them.
