I will be playing at a Spring Fayre with the London Gay Symphonic Winds in a couple of weeks. The dress code is all black, I am of course wondering what I should wear, it sounds like a pretty informal sort of occasion, I was wondering about wearing my culottes and a black satin blouse;~
http://paula-paulasplace.blogspot.co.uk ... hotos.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; The first two photos show the culottes, but the blouse I have in mind is long sleeved, I know they are a bit short but can I get away with it as they are after all culottes rather than a mini skirt, otherwise I think I will either wear a little black dress (next two photos) or the one further down (about seven down). What do you think?

Re: Concert Dress
If it's on the dressier side of black, I would go with palazzo pants (http://www.dressbarn.com/items/dress/im ... 53_150.jpg), but then I like the look and how they feel. Do you have any? If not, good excuse to go shopping?
With respect to your culottes... Pretty, but not for me. Are you wanting to show that much leg? They are good looking legs...
One last thing, you can always call, offer the picture (or description) of your leggy outfit and see what the establishment thinks with respect to what the other women wear when they are told to wear "black."

The culottes look nice. Not sure that a long sleeve blouse goes with a short 'skirt' however.

Re: Concert Dress
You play brass and conduct, so you can wear anything decent, but to me concert wear means formal I've got some black palazzo pants and black crepe top that keep me decent while hugging a cello, but I favor long, clingy, and slinky, with my arms bare for the violin and viola. When color is my choice, I favor reds.
I'm a girl with minor additions

Personally, while you look *great* in the culottes, they are just a bit too-short and too-casual for the event.
I would go with a pair of palazzo pants like Davita suggested . . . a "dressy-casual" outfit and one that looks more professional than the culottes.

Re: Concert Dress
It's cold over here in the UK at the moment, and yes those culottes are a bit on the short side, so I think I will be going for one of my LBDs and a nice dressy black jacket I picked up the other day. There is a chance that I will be playing tuba at a concert soon, then I will have to take care of my modesty so if it happens then I will be wearing the satin blouse and some nice lace trimmed dress trousers I have.
I am so glad that I have got involved with this orchestra, we play music that keeps me challenged and gives me a chance to dress up (I like formal) I will have to see if I can get some more photos for you all this time.

So nice you found the music and a chance to dress with it. I'm sure you will be lovely and yes, pictures would be wonderful.
