Do We Get Bolder As we grow older?
Dear hearts...I asked myself this...and I found it to be a resounding YES!
So. I go to Wally World and look around for some 15-40 mmHG therapeutic hoisiery...just for fun mind you...and I found some in ther-white...the cashier looks at me...
"Aren't you?"...and she trails off...
"What" I ask.
"Well, aren't you ...I mean...your legs are.."
"Ummmmmmm..?." I go.
"Well, they're REALLY nice...so why?"
'EXCUSE ME!" I say "WHY WHAT"?
I spied her supervisor coming our way at my impertinance..
"MISS...is there a problem here?" He asks me.
"Um no...me a problem?...no and this young lady serving me deserves a raise SIR...SHE has been exemplary in her demeanor, her poise, her professionalism...A MOST ADROIT SPECIMEN SIR!" And I flicked him my most casual of casual off-hand back-hand salutes...
He went off beaming...
"SIR!" I beamed...
"Yes miss" and he turned slightly...
"Do you think I should buy the 'MIST' or the 'NATURAL' in these therapeutic hose?"
He looks at my legs and goes..."I CAN SEE THOSE GORGEUOUS.....um...any color will be fine miss"...and he turns away...looks back..."Therapuedic?"
Just me having fun around town...but as a serious aside...testing waters and all that...DO WE GET BOLDER?

Maybe early on we think we have so much to lose and as we get older, we had it so what's to lose? As we get older, most people also tend to gain confidence just in general.
Myself? I'm just crazy and have always pushed limits for all kinds of things. So being a woman? I'm still me just getting older and enjoying me more.

Davita,
Oh I like that term "crazy" can I use it also as sometimes I think I am crazy. Once I went out like a women looking for a man, short skirt and spiked heels. Now why would I do that?
Oh ya I got all kinds of eyeballs

I know I got bolder after I spent 4 days in the cardiac unit. I realized I could not wait any longer to be myself, as I see me. Not as everyone else sees me. Now it's just a matter of bringing the physical appearance to match how I see myself.

Yes, i think we do. At some point in our lives, we ask ourselves "why not, what do I have to lose? or look what I have to gain".
I have said I would never go out as Alexis in the town I live in. But today, even though it was over a 100 degrees, I put on my pantyhose and my jeans, a simple blouse, put on light make-up and my wig and went out into the world. I stopped at several garage/yard sales, didn't see anything that fit or I liked, then went to the local ARC and bought a blouse. I went to some more sales and the decided to put on my white mid-calf length skirt and went back to the same ARC and proceeded to buy a bra and capri pants. I stopped at my moms to 'show-off' and wouldn't you know it one of my brothers showed up, I quickly changed into guy clothes (ugh!) and took off out the back door. I changed into my capris, quite cute, and my new blouse and went to the Assistant League store and tried on and bouught two dresses. I took a picture of one of the and will get it posted tonight.
So.....do we become bolder? Yes!!!

Carla Michelle... After 6 days in a cardiac unit and approaching 72 I know what you mean. This Wednesday I'll go see my shrink as Wendae and do some shopping after words.
I believe I was a lesbian in my past life

Wendae and Carla, glad you two have the chance to be bold(er) after all. It's a shame what prompted the push.
Carol Ann, certainly you can be crazy, but you've talked to me... You know my crazy isn't the same as most
To those who are just reading and not posting to this thread... Okay, so maybe you are not so bold right now, but as you can see; you will have your time. Be ready and plan ahead; sometimes spontaneous is not the best way to be bold the first time.

Re: Do We Get Bolder As we grow older?
Next Wed. will be my big 57 b-day. I have already made up my mind to make it a full-dress out on the town fun time, come hell or high temperatures. (looks like near 98)
Have picked out my white Gianni Bini spike heel sandals, conspiring with myself on the rest of my outfit.
You don't have to get bolder, but it is definitely more fun. Don't wait for someone/something to make you happy.
It's up to me to make me happy.
What better time than the summer? Have a great one, all of us.

Re: Do We Get Bolder As we grow older?
yes, definitely getting bolder. or maybe it's more accurate to say more comfortable with it and less concerned about reactions.
for some it was the cardiac unit, for me it was an ugly divorce. I just decided that I was tired of pretending.
Another big factor is experience. I have met more people than you'd expect that are very accepting. Many times I will get into long and intimate conversations with women that are total strangers, who just want to talk about it.

Re: Do We Get Bolder As we grow older?
I'm older and bolder...but not as old as you think, and probably a bit bolder than attributed. Older and bolder are relative terms. If I'm 28 and wiser than 28...act older and bolder than 28...does that make me older...more wiser... than a 28 yo?
No. Of course not.
So. As I grow older (Remember, age is irrelevant) Do I get bolder. The question remains unanswered in many minds here I see.
I'm piquing your brain cells
here, you see...

Re: Do We Get Bolder As we grow older?
I am 55 been dressing since being a kid. Wearing panties 24/7 for about 10 years along with Women's Jeans and some tops. I just don't care now. But I don't have a job also. With a job I pushed it but did not want to get fired. Best thing that ever happened when I lost my Job in July 2000. I think I make about twice what I made then. CRDP, SSD and VA Disability.
