Photo Gallery Rant
When are the newbies going to read the RULES about posting photos?? Makes extra work for the Mods to have to remove them
and send you a note saying they are not allowed.

Re: Photo Gallery
Hi, Carol Ann -
I totally agree with you, and at times I just want to tear my hair out
. . . although we do have some 'older' (ie, non new members) who don't read or follow our rules, either, and there is simply NO excuse for it.
For the record, I'm the only one here who has the authority to edit or delete anything in the photo gallery, an authority which I use judiciously.
Since October 2012 every new member gets the following information in their Account Activation email that is automatically sent to them when I activate an account:
Of course, I have deleted the entire photo album of that member just a few minutes ago.
Members, please remember that there is a saying to which everyone should adhere: Reading Is Fundamental (aka "RIF") and I always add to that, "and being able to understand and follow our rules and guidelines is elemental!"
Thanks for your 'rant' Carol Ann . . . maybe now our members - new and old(er) alike - will start to follow (all of) our rules?!?

Re: Photo Gallery Rant
Hi,
Well rest assured youll not see any of my pic's as i have allways had issues getting them up on any forum, computers & i dont get on very well. as its been over 4 weeks of 3 computers not working correctly just to get one right .
Though on our biggest forum of active 6,145 people we have a number of pics that i really think are not at all in good taste, seems to me many dresser's see it as sexy & hot & the comments condon the attitude as well. certinly not for this kid,

Re: Photo Gallery Rant
The internet is a boon to photoexhibitionists everywhere. Frankly, the appeal of posting questionable pictures of myself utterly escapes me. Perhaps its just that I'm not inclined toward photography. Seriously, I didn't do photography back in the Fotomat days, and I don't do it now with the pest-technology on our obligatory mobile phones (seriously - a camera on my phone - isn't that the nicest thing I never asked for). And I hope I'm pushing up daisies before I ever do.
Thus rants the Celia, the Mighty Princess of Chat!

Re: Photo Gallery Rant
Our members are not necessarily posting risque or inappropriate photos, although that does happen on occasion.
Yes, we do have new members who are excited about joining and want to share their photos, but generally speaking they are not the members who choose to disregard the rules. More often than not once they are reminded about them they do apologize to me, and that is greatly appreciated. That alone tells me what type of a person they are and what type of a member they will be . . . the good kind!!
Indeed, our biggest - and worst - offenders are the members who have a blatant disregard for our rules - any/all of them, do not want to abide by them, and/or question the rules (for whatever reason). Those members are our "problem children" and one of them - a repeat offender - just wrote me back and said this, "Go ahead and delete my account. I cannot deal with the pedantic nonsence." That person has deleted her 2 photos and while I have inactivated her account, her posts will remain here for the life of the forum.
Just because this forum is on the internet does not mean that we are "the wild, wild west" where there are no rules.
If anyone wants that type of a forum they are free to leave and go elsewhere . . . I'll even hold the proverbial cyber door open for them and help them on their way out with a boot (or stiletto!), too.
Our forum has been here for 10 years, we have rules and guidelines, they are all strictly and equally enforced . . . and we make no secret of it because it's on our registration page, in our Account Activation email, and all our rules are readily available for anyone to read before they decide to register.

Well, my rant wasn't exactly a guest editorial at the NYT (I don't think there's an option for
there). But everybody's gotta vent a little . . . .

Re: Photo Gallery Rant
As a new member and one of those to which the rants refer, I must agree that RULES are RULES and need to be adhered to.
The RULES link is so small that I just could not find it on the page. Maybe the font size of the link could be enlarged and highlighted in some way so that like me members will have no excuse for misdemeanours.

In a word: No.
Correction: The rules link is the exact same size as all regular text here . . . however, I can make it smaller or even tinier yet if you prefer, but I don't think anyone would like that.
While all rules links are the same size as regular text, they are also highlighted with the standard underline which is indicative of a link (as can be seen in my first post, above); I will not do anything more than that to them, so do not ask.
Further, as I have pointed out to you several times already, you were provided with those rules links - not once, but 3 times - all of which were prior to your infraction. Your excuse is null and void; your failure to fully read and/or comprehend the rules shall not, and will not, be passed on to anyone but yourself. Period.
I've said it before and I will say it again: Reading Is Fundamental . . . and being able to understand and follow our rules and guidelines is elemental!!
