That was, indeed, funny! Really not a Nature Girl, are you?
Strangest city sight for me: I was downtown waiting for the bus one night, must've been around 1:15 am or so. I was leaning against the post, reading a book, when movement across the street caught my eye. I looked up and did a double take, trying to make sure my eyes weren't deceiving me. Sure enough, there, on the sidewalk across the street, as pretty as you please, strolled the biggest, fattest raccoon I'd ever seen. He wasn't cutting across any properties or moving tentatively at all; he was strolling down that sidewalk as though this "midnight constitutional" was the most regular habit in his routine! I stared at after him right up until he came to the nearest intersection and just turned around the corner, going up the cross street. I looked around to see if anybody else had witnessed this, but I was pretty much alone. I've also had a raccoon come and investigate my feet--but that's another story!
Thanks for sharing your raccoon troubles, Lorna. I love animal stories, especially in urban settings!
Hi lorna,
You may not remember me but we have talked in the past. I totaly Understand the drinking problem. I was with a woman for two years that had a major drinking problem. To make a long story short,, I'm no longer with her and got married to the sweetist girl in the world last Sept. So you see that sometimes we all have to go through tough things to get to the BEST!!!!!!!!
BTW I know how you felt when your parents "Found out about you" I kinda went through the same thing last year. I was Ingured actually got burned bad at work. I was wearing a bra and panties under my work clothes. I managed to get the bra off and into my lunch pail,But then I had to take the panties off at the hospital. Then I had to tell my Mom about the "Suprise" she was going to find in my lunch pail. To my relief, She told me that she kinda knew all along. She also washed my things and put them away for me Kinda weird how things seem to work out!!!!!!
In exchange for my sister representing me in court I agreed to watch her 5 y.o. daughter every day. Going over to my mother's every single day and babysitting a hyperactive 5 y.o. is NOT fun.
And having to see my mother and sister on a DAILY basis isn't exactly doing wonders for my mental state either.
Gee, Lorna, was this a condition your sis imposed on you for representing you in court? If so, and sorry to say this, but I find that incredibly self-serving on her part. I hope I'm reading this wrong.
I hear you about the daily contact issue. My own beloved mother and I spent a while living together a couple of years ago and the whole experience was, to put it mildly, slightly straining for the both of us.

Maybe so, but this way I know that I can go about living my life with a total clear conscience. I'm not the one who brought a child into the world that I am too busy to raise. I now know that I am not the codependent one who can't stand on her own two feet.
I have had a LOT of hurdles thrown in my path in recent years. And I'm still standing. She can't say the same. She's a 35 year old lawyer who brought her husband & daughter back to NY to move in with Mom. Not I...
