The fact that today's TVs and DVD players are rendered completely USELESS as soon as you lose the remote.

I just bought a couple of movies today. And w/o the DVD remote I can't watch em!

If you can't find the remote, replacements are available - you should write down the brand/model of the player and check out dept/electronics/etc stores.

My DVD player is an older (4 yr old) Sony that does have enough controls so I can run it without the remote, although I would have to walk across the living room to start/stop/pause/etc.

I hope you find your remote. If not, I hope I provided you a little help.

Keeping on topic, one of my pet peeves is those **expletive** beginning sequences on DVDs that I can't bypass and have to sit through each and every time I want to watch them.

Here here! You have to sit thru 10 minutes of previews until the menu comes up.

Here here! You have to sit thru 10 minutes of previews until the menu comes up.

hint: hit fast-forward (or sometimes fast-fast-forward, depending on your machine). sometimes hitting the menu button on your remote works too.

the copyright warnings cannot be skipped, but previews usually can, you just have to know how (and of course, they won't tell you!).
