Have you ever wanted to change your CD name?

Recently, I have been struggling with the idea of changing my CD name. I think as I have evolved, I have found greater balance with a new name that has been on my mind for a little while now. I believe it reflects the true me, but I am afraid it also gives away some of the annonimity (sp?) that me current name has.

Have any of you gone through a similar experience? How did you handle it? If you had websites did you change the name on the website, or make reference to the new name?

Hi Erica,

After I tell people my name the first time it's REALLY uncomfortable for a few moments.

So yes, I've thought about it, but I'm not going to change it.

This could be a very interesting thread.

I like Deborah, because of its biblical connotations, but it has the "flexibility" of Debbie (sexy) and Deb for short. I have another name, that of a model that I worked with in a TV commercial (I was not 'dressed") could not compete with her anyway. I won't say what her name was as it is so unique and I would not want to tempt anyone else to "try" it.

I have thought about it... thinking back I could have used my own nickname, given to me by my parents... "Kiki"

In the US, Kiki is considered a female name. However my parents, not having been born in this country, didn't see any harm in giving me that nickname...

Perhaps they had a premonition of the future...

But I won't ever change my name. Lorna just fits!

My first choice was Michelle, but settled for Darlene, because there are a lot of Michelle's. As it turns out I am really pleased with Darlene, because the only Darlene that I know is a real classy woman, and when I dress to the nines I want to feel classy. I think it helps to better realize my fantasy.

For almost a year, before I posted as my femme self anywhere on line, it was "paralysis by analysis" lurking around forums, visiting individual's web pages, name origin sites, etc.

Various names and combinations of names were bouncing around inside my blonde head (lots of empty space in there, needed to put cotton in my ears to keep them from escaping

).

I finally came up with Jadeanne because it's unique and I liked it best.

My parents of course had a female and male name picked out for me. My mom still rembers it. I will ask her what it is and post as soon as I know. It is more than likely a musician as my first and middle name are afer musicians.

Thanks ladies for the responses so far. You see for me my real first name can be interchanged and used for either a first or last name. I had toyed with the idea of being more true to myself and actually using my first name as my last name, but am finding that I am also very comfortable with Erica Shade. It has a lot of meaning to me, and it has brought me through the tough times. So I am torn. 1) use a name that more closely resembles my real name, and stand proud of who I am, or 2) continue with my chosen name, as I really like it, and it took me a long time to come up with it. And I thought crossdressing already brought out enough issues. Here's another one.
