Where to buy classic panties in a US store

Post by Freda D. »

Travelling to the US and would like know where I can buy classic granny panty style briefs in a store.

Looking for something more than major department stores and vanityfair this time.

Have yet to set an itinerary so have some flexibility.
Hope somebody can help

Dear Freda,

Enjoy your trip here, business or vacation?
Honey, since I am a Grandma, all my panties are granny's :) . I suppose you mean the style between legged bloomers and bikini briefs commonly known as full cut briefs. Any store that sells women's wear will have them. The larger department stores will have a bigger selection. Look for brand names like Hanes Her Way or Jockey For Her.
We buy from catalogs as the husband and I purchase panty hose in bulk, it's much cheaper.

Since you have not yet set your itinerary, I would suggest you consider visiting the Vanity Fair outlets in Reading PA. Reading is about 60 miles or so north and west of the Philadelphia airport, if you are flying.
I lived in that area for a while, and there are a few other things to see: the train museum, airplane museum, and it's not far from Gettysburg.

But back to the VF outlets, you will go crazy. Bring a few extra empty suitcases. They have every imaginable style, brand, color etc. and their prices are better than anywhere else I have found. I wear the VF string bikini which retails for $6-8 in department stores who rarely have much selection of colors. I can get them there for $3 and they have every color and matching bras. In all the places I've been shopping, there is absolutely nowhere that has a comparable selection or better prices. Usually I try to buy all my underwear there, unless I am overcome by temptation and need to make an emergency trip to Victoria's Secret. :) Anyway, they have not only VF, but Bali, Warners, pretty much all the major brands.
What they don't have, strangely, is hosiery by Berkshire. However, the Boscovs department store which is popular in that area, usually has a pretty good selection at prices better than you can get online. There are a few Boscovs' in Reading.

I don't like the rest of the clothes there very much though. The other shops are not that great, but it all depends what you like. A lot of people take bus trips there to do their back to school shopping, so plenty of people disagree with my opinion about that  They have a lot of inexpensive clothes, and sometimes I've found things I liked. I don't often say nice things about Reading (my ex lives there), but the VF outlet there is the best place in the world to buy underwear.

Thanks so much for replies.

Yep I meant full cut panty.

I have 3 weeks after business for holiday and will start off in Dallas.

After that I have not set any plans yet and will leave from LA. So pretty flexible with where I might go.

Vanity Fair panties are great and I know about current brands but I am looking for any other brands and in particular as older style as I can possibly find.

I am thinking there might be smaller type stores with different brand names and even some stores who sell old stock or maybe discontinued lines.

I want to use a store and not buy off the web.

Thanks again for your help and I had not thought of using VF outlet store, good idea.

I had no idea that all my panties, even the newly purchased ones, were an 'older style'. Any older, they would have legs and ruffles on them. I doubt if this style will ever go out of style. Surely they are sold elsewhere? You're making me feel antique!

You must be looking for something more specific than simply full cut panty because there's gobs of them everywhere.

Looking for nylon fullcut only and was hoping to find makers other than the more mainstream VF, Olga, Hanes, Jockey, Carole, Wacoal.

Just something different I guess.

Deepest apology if I have anybody feeling "ancient" . Nylon full cut format I hope will be around forever.

No insult felt, Freda. I prefer cotton panties anyway.
Happy shopping!
