Hi all,
The closest I came to purging was around a year and a half ago, when Jadeanne emerged several months after my mother passed away. She moved into a nearby senior residence (by her choice) and sold her house. I was the only child and my wife and I stored her "off season" things in our house.
My wife is very supporting and accepted my femme side. Some of my mother's clothing fit my wife and almost all of it fit me. My wife decided what she wanted to keep and then I had a marathon session trying on and deciding on several dozen dresses and jumpers/tops. A few wornout things we threw out, but the still wearable ones that we didn't want, we gave to the Salvation Army. Every once in a while, we do go through the closets and donate things that don't fit or we don't like to wear anymore to rummage sales or thrift stores.
We also once in a while shop at thrift stores and buy outer clothing (no intimate underwear).

Well... let's just say that my mother had to come to my apartment in an emergency and while she was here, she did all of my purging for me.
Because I was not present at the time I was unable to stop her. Now it's going to cost me a fortune to replace it all. Wigs, mekeup, clothes, shoes, the whole sha-bang.
Hundreds of dollars worth of clothing & shoes... GONE. Just like that.

Carol Ann,
I'm pretty sure we all understand. All of us at one time or another
find all that we can do is move forward. I'm glad you did. I still struggle
to leave my past behind. We will try again at therapy, Monday evening,
to forgive my parents of their sins against a serious, sensitive and caring
little boy. My soul still wants to keep the pain that has been my comfort
for all these years...
To the point, I was always too practical, no matter how bad I felt, to
throw away nice clothes and shoes. Some of mine also have gone to
good will.
The answer is no.

The purge
Yes I have purged.
Things I remember: Great grey sweater and skirt combo - gone. And a lot of other stuff.
Now I try to find things I might wear on a trip, around town Etc.. Currently includes 2 pair of locut jeans. 5 belt loops from a major manufacturer. Can't hardly tell they are not Mens. Big shirts in the smaller sizes are ok . Shoes have been a bear however. with Size 14 I have to keep what I find and pay a premium to find them. will I purge again. don't think so. Will I wear more in public Hell YA!
Last thing I did was wear all fem , jeans, top, intimates, shoes while traveling to a casino. I also made sure the only clothes I brought were for Aislin. Jeans and low heels /flats for the casino floor. Dresses for the room. Must be good luck because I won for once!
Hugs and loves

Yes, I have purged many times, up until about 10 years ago. That was when I finally accepted who and what I am and started to do my best at dressing. Most of my purging was when I reached the point that I felt that what I was doing wasn't "right or proper." I'd get rid of stuff and vow not to dress again.
To me, purging is just getting rid of my femme stuff (clothes, wigs, shoes, makeup, etc.). Clothes and such usually went to Goodwill or the Salvation Army. Makeup and such was usually tossed in the trash.
As those who have purged know, it's not that easy to quit. Usually, after a few weeks or months, I was replacing stuff and dressing again. Often to a higher level or degree. For example, for a long time I didn't use much if any makeup, but after one of my purges I started using makeup more often. After purges, I also ended up doing more research into CD'ng and how to dress, and apply makeup to better present myself as a woman.
I don't expect to ever purge again, but who knows? Right now, I'm accepting myself and plan to keep dressing as long as I can and doing the best job I can.
Lots of love,
Alana

I purged last about 15 years, and a few times before that. Those "everything goes" types, with extreme regrets after. I bet I had the best dressed garbage men in my area
Since then, if I have something I don't like or doesn't fit quite well, I deposit in a Goodwill type box (provided its something someone could use). Also, sometimes we have a "swap" meeting at my group and anything not adopted goes to a womens cancer group. Ok, maybe some wind up being used for oil changes, but still better than an out-right purge

I've also purged a few times. The full purge where everything goes! Each time I did, I said to myself "I'm never doing this again (dressing)". And not long after, I had to start rebuilding my wardrobe.
At those times I was ashamed of CDing and didn't know really why I did it. Now I understand more, and truly enjoy the time when I'm dressed.
So now I can say "Never again will I purge". Geez, some of the cute stuff that I got rid of. Wish I had it back. Not to mention the money side of it too.
I do need to thin out my panty drawer, but just can't bring myself to throw away things again.

I purged once in 1994 and again a couple of months ago. Y'know what? I realized this last time how ridiculous the whole purging thing is. As Popeye was so fond of saying, "I am what I am!". I just returned from a fun night out on the town in en femme in Key West with my girlfriend. I'm happy to be a CDer, TG or whatever!
Hugs,

I purged once, back in 1999. My ex had gotten tired of my "backsliding" into crossdressing, and insisted that our marriage wouldn't survive unless I threw everything out then and there. It was the worst mistake I ever made. In retrospect, I should have kept my things and kicked her out. That's all behind me now.

CJ I love the idea of a crossdressing Jack Kerouac. Although I guess traveling about with very few possesions would make a large wardrobe contradictory. Tell us more, please.
Personally I haven't purged unless you count throwing away my first pair of pantyhose with relief that I wasn't going to do this anymore FOR A WHILE. They did have a lot of holes in them and were a wreck generally. It was a year later that I made my second purchase. I'm too cheap to throw it all away knowing I will probably go buy more later.
I do every now and then however do a housecleaning and get rid of stuff I don't like. It's nice to eliminate un neccesary clutter. But it doesn't feel like purging.
Had I started buying my own stuff earlier I am sure I would have purged, just as I stopped borrowing my mothers and later my grilfriends clothes many times.

purging. . .
I purged ONCE. .. I had been cross dressing since 8th grade and somewhere around my senior year, I got rid of everything. . thought I could just pick up and go on without cross dressing anymore. . .
luckily, I found out about what purging was soon after, and have never fallen for that expensive stunt again!

purging should be the abcolute last option!
because i have been regularly buying clothes and dressing since my late teens, i've purged a few times in my early years. the typical dumping of everything during inevitable crisis or 'swearing off' periods. probably the last such time was maybe 20 years ago when i went from a marriage and a home to single and a small apartment.
i haven't purged in over 20 years. lately, instead of a classic purge i now have a very controlled weeding or clearing out of things that just don't fit or don't work anymore. even when i place an item in the pile to go to goodwill it is always subject to being pulled back by me or the wife. right now my wife's favorite jeans are ones i bought for myself 25 years ago.
i keep telling my wife we need to let an item go for each new item we buy or we'll run out of closet space... i have to laugh at that last comment, after a quick count of our closets i came up with about 90 feet for clothes rods and they are over 3/4 loaded.
if i ever had to get my things out of here i would not purge. a year's rental on a storage locker would be a lot cheaper than rebuilding what i have...
