Suspender/Garter Belts Preference

Post by AnnMarie Sweet »

For the ladies who wear suspender/garter belts, what is your favourite style?

I have a preference for the vertically-wide belt. I absolutely despise the thinner styles because the 'belt' tends to cut into the waist. Lots of lace with satin or tricot side panels. A shenis framed by a suspender-belt and stocking-tops is a rather exciting image for both wearer and admirer (and I have been both) - ultra-feminine. I don't care much for belts that have more than the standard four straps (too 'busy' and can be a right, and left if it comes to it, pain to attach).

Opinions?

Being a pantyhose girl I don't wear a garter belt often but when I do like you I prefer one a bit wider than those flimsy styles which are designed more for the bedroom than a day of wearing it. I have a couple of garter belts and both have 6 straps. I find those hold stockings better and the placement of the straps more comfortable.

When I wear a garter belt i go for more function than pretty. I like a wider belt with more support to hold it up and 6 garters gives more support holding up the hose for all day comfort. I agree the narrow belts are pretty but will begin to dig in after just a couple of hours. Also girdles with garders on them work well also and that is what I often have worn instead of a garter belt.

Be hosed and enjoy.

I have never worn a garter belt but from the way many of you talk about them I think I should try one. Where does a girl find a garter belt like Kimberly and Trudy describe? Also where does one buy stockings? At most of the stores around here they have cut the size of their hosiery department. I can find pantyhose, tights, and even thigh highs but I have no idea where to buy stockings, Victoria's Secret?

Hi Heather,

Stockings are everywhere including Walmart and CVS (at least here they are). There are many different brands and qualities available, which is another thread here on the Haven. If you don't have access to stores that carry stockings of course an online purchase will always work (that goes for garter belts too).

My dilemma is to wear the garter belt under or over my girdle. They're are pros and cons for both.

If you look into the Rago brand of girdles, you will find most of their girdles have garters, so you wouldn't have that dilemma [-(

Great tip Paula, and the Rago High Waist Girdles look great for molding a GGs shape, and they're priced reasonably well too. However, my girdles are from Classic Curves International which are designed specifically for us cross-dressers adding girth to the hips. The shop is actually in Long Beach so I get custom fitted. Perhaps I should give the owner a call to see if he can add garters.
