Hello Ladies. Here in the past year or so I have been having bad toothaches that would keep me up for nights on end. Puerto Rican rum was the only thing that would kill the pain. Now I took good care of my teeth doing everything possible to keep them healthy throughout the years. BabyDoll was on my case to go see a dentist, but with my busy schedule, I just didn't really have the time. Well she did what most caring wives do and made me a dental appointment. Two weeks ago we went in and of course she told on me about the toothaches. They took x-rays just to find out that all my teeth were hollow. (explains a lot). So as of this past Wednesday I went back and they pulled them all, per my suggestion, The Dentist, I must say was an older gentleman with a great bedside manner.
He didn't put me to sleep, but rather prescribed valuem to help me relax. Then shot me up with so much novecane ( I just can't seem to spell tonight), that a bully could have punched me and I wouldn't have felt it. He took his time and kept asking if I was alright. All I could do was grumble a "yep". When He was finished, I hadn't realized that he pulled the front.
Now of course I hade pain yesterday off and on and I handled it pretty well, But....... Here it is 2:30 in the morning and I'm awake because the pain medication decided to wear off already. So now I'm waiting for the Tylenol to kick in so I can go back to sleep.
Oh and by the way, it didn't ruin my good looks to bad.
Thanks Donna. I did take a sleeping pill and was out with in minutes. I'm feeling much better today although I do still have a little swelling. I think the worst of it all are the stitches. They are more of an irritation than anything. They will be coming out in a week though.
Now it's a 6 month wait to get my dentures, but it'll be worth the wait.
Domonique, didn't you get immediates put in? 6 months is an awful long time to wait for your smile. Both Joanne and I have extensive experience of the dentist, extractions and dentures. By the way are your stitches desolvable or do you have to make another trip back to get them removed?
Joanne had all her teeth removed and like you has tried to take good care of them but in her case genetics was against her after a series of 3D scans and xrays it was determined that 85% of her teeth were in fact floating in pockets of fluid in her gums.
I have false uppers mainly due to my own ill conceived care routine and the uppers suffered for it.
If you have any question about after care and dentures don't hesitate to PM. Only to pleased to offer any advice I can.
Michelle.

Hi Michelle, no temps or healing plates. Dentist said they are a waste of time and money. Besides with fall setting in and winter just around the corner I'll be hibernating with the bears soon. I'll only have to go out on occasion to plow. I go back Tuesday to have the stitches removed. I guess he just wanted to make sure that I was healing well.
Hi All, just giving an update. Just 28 more days before we get our dentures. Six months of gumming food will finally come to an end. Also I will be able to post new pics and show off a few new dresses.
Hi Domonique. Glad to hear things are going well with the dental process. I have dental issues that really need to be addressed myself. Someday. can't wait to see the new outfits.
Bet you can not wait for your new choppers. Glad it is going well.

Just trying keep a balance for my self along with keeping my wife and kids in mind.
Hello Ladies. I have my dentures. I have been so busy that I haven't really had any time for me. I am going to try to this coming weekend to take a few pictures.
It has been fun learning how to chew and talk but I am getting better at it. The first time I sneezed I thought they were going for a quick flight across the room. I here people complain about having a foreign object in their mouths and take them out after only a few hours. I guess I just have more will power ( and the want to be able to chew my food). Besides I look younger and prettier with them.
Pleased to hear you've finally got your new smile and you're not experiencing any problems with them. I had to take a Dremel to the back of my plate as I have a nasty gag reflex but apart from that I love mine. It's true that some people hate the idea of a hockey puck in their mouths , but it doesn't bother me. Besides I love my new smile.

I have similar ongoing dental issues myself, and will be going back next week for more dental work. A little off the subject (maybe?), but when our daughter was about 5 I took her to the dentist. There was a poster hanging in the waiting room which showed a 3 or 4 year old boy tugging at the hem of his mom's skirt and asking her: "When I die and get to heaven, will I get to go to the dentist every day?" Now my daughter was just starting to learn how to read, so she stared intently at the poster for 10 minutes or so. Finally she blurted out: "You know what something dad? That little boy is really stupid, isn't he." Out of the mouths of babes! Just thought I'd inject a little humor here to "ease your pain" for any of you who are dealing with dental issues.
