Giggle... At it's best a makeover can involve multiple outfit changes, makeup adjustments and hair styles. really is sooooo much fun! Probably more fun than any girl should be allowed to have.

Ooh, I want! :P

Martha,

Good examples of makeovers can be seen on shows like 'What Not to Wear' when unknowing fashion victims are chosen for, well... a makeover! Flattering and stylish new clothes... hair and makeup professionally done... Once the makeover is complete, the ladies surprise their friends and family with their "new and improved" look.

Yep. They take whoever you are does not matter how you are presenting male or female as males can also have make overs...then the consultants will advise you what clothing and colors and styles are best suited to you, what hair style and if presenting as a female what make up looks best for you. On the other end of a make over you come out looking your very best.

Haven't you ever seen those shows on cable what not to wear...that's the one that comes to mind but they are making over women. The women they do have been referred by their friends to the show because they are in drastic need of being shown how to dress and make their selves up, unaware they look like some swamp creature crawling out of some disgusting slime pit.

Hmm a makeover, that's long been a fantasy desire of mine. I see websites with stores when you walk in totally drab and hand yourself over to the expert staff. They will give your a professional makeup application offer suggestions on clothes, shoes, hairstyles/wigs and jewellery and when you look fabulous they offer a photo shoot with a professional photographer. Oh I would love that.

That is where you let the makeup person at Macy's make you prettier.

Alisa, that's just crazy that you mentioned Bethlehem PA! I had a makeover once at a salon in Allentown that I'd very highly recommend
It was quite a few years ago so I don't remember the name either of the salon or lady, but she did a fabulous job - which inspired my to buy $300 of products! I keep saying that one day I'm going to go back there to get fitted for some wigs, but just haven't had the opportunity yet.

A number of years ago I went to Merle Norman for a full cosmetics make over. I first a few days prior called a local Merle Norman shop and asked if they are ok with a crossdresser looking for a makeover. The lady on the phone was positive about it and suggested I make an appointment with one lady who has worked with crossdressers. I set up the appointment for a couple days later.

The evening of the appointment I under dressed as much as I could and packed the rest of my femme clothes, boots and wig in a travel bag. I went to the shop with my sister and one lady friend who I did confide in about being a cder. The shop was inside a mall meaning we had to walk through it. One of the ladies let me change in a back room. I WAS NERVOUS AS H! I was as I walked out wearing a purple button down blouse, long blue denim skirt a pair of pull on spike heel boots and my wig. My makeup artist "Lori" began to talk with me as she began working on my make over. She had me participate and we talked about what and why she was doing the things she was. My sister and lady friend were being made up too and both watched me get my make over. I FELT SO GIRLY!!!

The professional make over taught me much about how I can make myself up, yes she sold me a load of cool cosmetics, my credit card was rather warm :haha: and let me see how Lacey looked really femmed up. I LUVED IT! :teddybear: ***()***

Walking out of the store and the mall dressed was fun and a bit scary but I felt so good.

Martha, I'm sorry I hadn't responded before now. You're such a sweetie! My hubby is lucky in that she has a specific shop nearby dedicated to make the man a beautiful woman. The girls schedule their makeover, change there, and shop for clothing and accessories.

As Lacey mentioned, Merle Norman seems to have no problem dealing with a male face. There are other known brands around, some with stand alone shops, so then a mall is not an issue.
Basically, a makeover is having a professional do your make up for you. They may instruct you on what is being done, for additional fee, and of course sell the products used.

Of course it may be less expensive to buy other products after learning how to do your own face, getting a start in the right direction will save money and frustration in the long run.

Since you're becoming more comfortable as Martha in public, may I suggest a visit to the cosmetic counter and ask for, say, eye shadow to match your outfit? A mini makeover if you will. You'll be surprised at the friendly response and results.

Just by browsing the cosmetic counter, it'll take very little time before some perfect complexioned young lady will beg you to try their products. Us more matured ladies have different needs in cosmetics. Keep that in mind.

I have a friend who is a beauty consultant and makeup expert.

She can do makeup according to age.

She could probably do a makeover to make be a beautiful mature lady.

And she wouldn.t just do it to make a sale.

How about that Eileen
