If it's a synthetic wig, buy hair spray for wigs only. You can buy wig shampoos and conditioners too as that will be best. These cost a bit but one does not normally have to wash and condition a wig as often as one does the own hair.

Wash in cool water, do not twist water out, but drip off water and light pressure squeeze to get a lot of water out. But more so place the wig on a fluffy towel and blot by rolling it up like making jelly roll. This will blot out most water. Unroll shake the wig lightly and store on a wig stand or Styrofoam wig head. I was cheap made my own by wadding up paper towels inside a plastic bag about the size of a small human head, filled up plastic milk jugs with a bit of water for stability and taped the waded bag of paper towels to the lip of the jug. Let the wig air dry and do not style or comb/brush when wet. Most synthetic wigs DO NOT TAKE HEAT WELL so no blow dryers or curling irons. If left alone to dry the wig will retain its typical style as this is pre done at manufacturing.

you can use a mild hair spray on a wig, but they also make special wig hair spray. I have washed my wig with regular shampoo in the past. My thought was it was better to wash it then keep it full of all the sweat. But a wig shampoo is better for it along with conditioner. It makes dealing with the wig much easier.

A pony tail with a wig depends on where you put the pony tail, the quality of the wig and whether a pony tail actually looks good on you. My concern whenever I want my hair in a pony tail is whether my own hair peeks out underneath. My wigs' colors don't match my five hairs. If you put the pony tail on your neck versus up top, you're less likely to show of your hair. Now some wigs are rather sparse in the hair and others terribly full. Pulling the hair from the "built in" style of the wig can cause the netting to show. A human hair wig, like real hair, can be styled to accept a pony tail.

Ya kknooooowwww, going to a shop that has wigs can help with selecting a style (and color) for you and help with questions about pony tails etc. These people take care of anyone that wants a wig; they don't care if you're a boy, girl, trans ....

Before you asked about care and feeding of wigs; they come with instructions as well and they tend to be accurate. That said, we each have learned the tweaks that we like for styling and the care. One thing not mentioned so far is a hair brushes and combs. Ask a woman what she uses for her tangled hair. That's going to give you the best answer for brushes or combs and even conditioners. Now a human hair conditioner won't do anything for a synthetic wig except slick it up so you can brush it easier.

I put my wig into a pony tail with a hair clip and it looked good in my opinion.I am athletic and like to jog and walk, the pony tail will look better when i attempt my first jog in a nice woman's outfit.I will take a pic of me in a pony tail and athletic outfit, hopefully in the near future. :)
