working on my mannerisms

Post by Shelby »

Being new to all of this I find it a challenge just to sit with my legs crossed like lady; how do you get your leg over the other so tightly? When I try the leg I am crossing just doesn't want to fall over the other side.
My wife taught me to sit on one cheek which seems to make it easier for me to cross my legs but, I can't imagine that is always possible.

Is this another one of those practice, practice, practice things?

Oh fun.... Not everyone is so lucky to have legs that can be crossed so tightly. Out of idle curiosity, try crossing them the other way. If you are doing right over left, try left over right. I can only cross my legs one way. BTW, one reason for being in a yoga class is to get back some of my flexibility -- something to think about. :)

Most times, I just cross my ankles; it's easier and I'm not giving the crowd a peek all the way up my legs. At my watering hole that is so easy to do with the high tables mixed in with the low booths.

Quite true, Davita! If your old hips won't let you cross legs at the thighs, at least cross the ankles. The objective is to keep your knees together. Many women will sit on one cheek with her feet off to the side.

With my fluffy self, crossing legs is an uncomfortable position. I opt for longer skirts and then tuck my feet behind and kind of lady like. Longer skirts mean i do not need to worry about my legs springing apart and showing the world all. Also just more comfortable for me as I do not need to be constantly checking my skirt like I see some gals do. IMHO if you have to be constantly checking that your skirt is down, then it is too short.

I am a physically male person that likes to wear feminine clothes at times.
Just trying keep a balance for my self along with keeping my wife and kids in mind.

I went the practice, practice, practice route. This is where I have had the most success; but it took many months. Now I cross my legs properly without even thinking about it.

At first it was uncomfortable, even painful. Seems there are muscles, tendons or some such thing in the hip, butt, and groin that were had to be stretched out. Once I figured that out, I took it slow and eased into a sit gradually. Left-over-right seems more natural and easier, but I can do right-over-left when I think about it.

The one cheek technique is helpful - in a lot of ways - as it helps alive some of the stress on the muscles. The other benifit is from head to toe, it promotes a S image - think curves, curves are feminine in a lot of subtle ways.

On one cheek, a lady can lean toward a person of interest instead of sitting square in a chair. If you have assets to show, a slight profile is better than a head on view.

I've never been comfortable in leg crossing, only at ankles and I lean one side or the other.
Gosh! Doing it now! <>

I also vote for practice, practice, practice! After much practice it seems to be second nature with me now! I'm small/petite and I think that also helps. I think crossing at the ankles and legs to the side is good, but nothing more feminine than sitting with legs crossed. Unless it would be sitting on floor, bed, or other flat surface with your legs together curled beside you.

So once I mastered the leg cross, I started to dangle my shoe with my legs crossed. I wear mostly loafers and have for a long time (hate masculine tie shoes)! I think it's cute and kind of sexy to dangle your shoe. Here's my tip. With both feet on the floor, put pressure on the ball of the foot and arch your foot, then simply raise your heel out of the shoe. In one motion just cross your legs. Once your legs are crossed you dangle your shoe by rotating your ankle. It's fun, flirty, and cute!

For the ultimate in fem leg crossing, while your legs are crossed take the opposite hand of the leg that is on top. Starting on the side just below the knee move your hand down the side of your calf and gently rub the outside of your ankle. More fun with crossing your legs than you ever imagined!

Hum....could be you need to lose weight? I have absolutely no problem at all crossing my knees with the other leg resting over the other.

I am not so sure about the losing weight thing; I think it might just be more of a flexibility thing. I spend a fair amount of time in the gym and never dedicated much time to stretching.
