The other morning I was watching Good Morning America and the weather person Ginger Zee had on a very interesting outfit. She had on a black and gray (or maybe it was a soft silver) striped sweater, black tights, black pumps, and very shiny silver shorts. I had to take a double take as the first thing I thought was OMG those are hot pants! A closer look showed me although they were short but not as short as the hot pants of the 70's. Also they were loose fitting rather than the snug fit of hot pants. I guess maybe they were more like culottes. They were not even what I would call a skort but perhaps that is what they might be called today.
Was wondering if anyone else saw this and what they thought about it?
Not sure what they call them today

Remember Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did only she did it backwards and in high heels!

without seeing the outfit, there is no way to make a guess. Had the pants been attached to a top under the sweater, then you got a romper and those are in fashion now. As for hot pants, I don't recall them ever being a loose fit on the legs.
Scooter skirts used to be a full skirt over complete shorts, but those are now being called skorts. Skorts have always been the front half very much looking like a skirt and the back looking very much like shorts. Culottes were shorts that tried to look like a skirt, but sometimes they didn't try very hard. If you have watched any black and white movies involving dance practicing on a stage, do those shorts look like what you're talking about? I think they were just shorts; I don't recall them having a fashion name.

Hard to say what her outfit is called, that may depend on the age of the viewer. It served the purpose though. A stunning outfit on a cute lady made you watch the weather report.

I've seen yoga pants, or running shorts that are a little baggy. Maybe she just created a new style.
