Follow the crowd?

Post by Virginia »

Well, I know that every season we see the "new styles and colors" that the designers try and direct "us" to wear. We say "no" I am going to do my own thing! Well, Deborah said that and in both Galmour and Vogue I swear her color choices and skirts and slacks are all the rage!!! Even mini's seem to be coming back in style! Is this girl good or what!!! I love it!
Love,
Deborah

Hi Deb.

Your post reminded of a quote that recently came across my desk.

One may attempt to find comfort in the crowd, the only problem with that is the crowd is not comfortable.

And that point is brought to reality, by the observation that the crowd usually aspires to change things.

To heck with trendy... I could really care less. If it's cute I'm wearing it, if not then I wont!

Oh, Lorna,
sorry, but that was my point as well, Deborah picked out what she liked before it was fashionable and low and behold it was fashionable, so like you said wear what you like - girl, an no more fighting!

Hey Beauty.

One example: The crowd (society) is uncomfortable with us cross-dressers, and would like to change us. Are they happy people? I think not. Do I want to be part of that crowd? Not in a heart beat!

Tea-Cake,

Thank you for those kind words. Although I don't know about the jelly fish and all that.

As for trends I say buck'em! Who knows the outside thinking bizzarely dressed may be the next trend setter. Life is strange that way.

I believe you should wear what you like - if it coincides with the latest trend, great.

The designers, clothing stores, etc. are in the business of selling clothing, and changing the style trends encourages buying more. I find attractive things in the clearance section and buy them for less. I also shop thrift stores.

I know that my way isn't for everyone, but I'm price sensitive and enjoy the challenge of the bargain hunt.

Just my opinion,

Jadeanne,
Great minds- huh!? I like the thrift shops, with the exception that sometimes I find the most beautiful blouses I mean we'er talking $100.00 to $200.00 new and they are the wrong size and I almost cry! Now that its warmer I like a nice frilly, sexy see- through with a pretty bra underneath - nothing that makes me look like a "hoe," I think you know what I mean, sexy not slutty, I think there is a fine line and I don't want to cross it.
Love,
Deborah

Deborah,

Thank you for your kind words.

One of my recent Blair aquisitions was a long sleeved, sheer white blouse with ruffled collar and cuffs. The top of a lacy full slip looks very pretty underneath. When the weather gets cooler again I will also be able to wear it under the jacket of a skirt suit with the white ruffled collar and cuffs peeking out. I'm now trying to make each item of clothong work with several others.

As I approach the 2nd full year of femme dressing, my taste in outer femme clothing is starting to get a bit different from my wife's, although I think I have expanded her taste and wardrobe a bit.

I'm going more for ruffles, etc. and now some of my picks from catalogs and websites are things that my wife says that she probably wouldn't want to borrow from me (although she would be welcome).

My current favorite hunting ground of the moment is the closeout section of Roamans - they now have some things entering closeout that I remember seeing and liking in the regular catalog, but "not at THAT price". The prices are now closer to my comfort level, and I cleared a little room with rummage donations, hmmmm :-k .

Could this blonde's taste be maturing a bit? Stay tuned.
