Shopping - Where and How

Post by Aislin »

Girls,

Where and how do you shop?

I use E-Bay ( She-Bay) for shoe purchasees. I have a real issue finding size 14 shoes in just any catalog or local store front. It is simply easier to purchase 6 Inch heels on line than trying to find a store. Besides most of the time it is cheaper.

WalMart: don't sell it short. I have gotten skirts and tops from the plus size section, without any hassel and without shorting out my wallett. Currently wearing a long length skirt and blouse purchased as a set for under $30.

Thrift stores. truly a gold mine of clean servicable merchandise. I get Items that are considered stylish while not spending much. They are fun to go into because you may never know what gem you will find.

How about some feed back from the rest of you. It may be good to have more up-to-date info for those who might be post purge or just looking.

I guess I am the first to post and let me explain (if I can) I have not go out in fem to make any my purchases but just look around and see what I like and then buy what interst me. I do not belive I can (at this time) could ever pass as fem as this dang beard of mine grows fster than a weed thuse making it easier to be my self. As to buying online. Well let me just say I am not the most trustiest of person when making online purchases.

So that's that.

Hi Aislin,

I'm glad you're back! :) I missed seeing you.

I voted that I've purchased things while dressed, but online because I haven't been to a store CD'd.

I too have not got to go out en femme to make any of my purchases. I prefer the challenge of presenting in male mode while shopping. ( but not in the city in which I live.) Mostly thrift stores. I have gotten some beautiful dresses from there.

Hi all,

Most of the time when I am doing online ordering, I AM dressed en femme, even though I do my actual purchasing through one of my other computers. I don't have my male name on this one and try to make it a bit more difficult for hackers.

I order from online places which generally also send catalogs - Lane Bryant, Blair, Old Pueblo Traders, National, Penneys. I have ordered 3 times online from QVC. After my late mother moved to a senior residence close by I ordered a couple of longline bras for her from Penneys website. My late mother also bought clothing by mail order from Haband, Blair, and Old Pueblo Traders. I have also ordered a couple of wigs by phone from Paula Young.

My first couple of online purchases were in my wife's name using her credit card (of course only after getting her permission). She encouraged me to order with my male name and credit cards - a lot of the time I was buying things for her.

Here's a confession - most of the time I'm logged on here, I have at least one other Mozilla page tabbed to one shopping site or another

I don't leave my house dressed, so it's male mode for me for shopping in retail stores, most of the time with my loving, supporting wife, who wears the same or very similar sizes in most things. Thrift stores are a semi-regular stop.

My wife ordinarily doesn't like to shop, but she seems to not mind it when we limit the number of places and when I get her some things. One of here favorite places is Avenue, next door to our favorite buffet. Once every few weeks, we follow up a lunch or dinner at the buffet with a stop at Avenue. Part of it is psychological for my wife - it is a plus size store and our sizes are the smallest they carry (14-16W). We are on their mailing list and get discount coupons, but they usually have a lot of nice closeouts for $10 and under.

Did I answer the question? Am I now entered in the Blonde contest for this month's Miss May? ^^_||

Shopping

Post by Penny T »

Aislin,

I fing it easier to shop enfemme, but even when I'm in 'Phil Mode' don't get between me and something I see on the sale rack or you'll have my footprints on you! I didn't get the option of shopping online since I have no credit card(nor a chance of getting one anytime soon)and I had to shop in person. At first it was long trips to far away in male mode, then closer still in male mode, then as Penny. That's when I discovered that even when you're an easy read, people don't gawk as much at a CD'er in the ladies department as they do when you're a male there! I now shop wherever I want since I'm pretty much totally out, and I'm comfortable in the Ladies Dept. no matter how I look so long as I'm clean. My look varies from male to female with a lot of androgynous in between because other than at work I just dress as I feel and that varies a lot with me(though I rarely feel fully male anymore). The worst treatment stores and society has ever given me was while I was dressed androgynously. That is a tougher path to travel than going out enfemme, passing or not, has ever been. Folks REALLY have a problem with the between-gender people!

Being poor means Talbot's and Lerner's are out. I'm a Wally-World Girl and a proud Blue-Light Specialist. In the social circles I run in(read poor)this is where GG's shop for most of their clothes which helps me blend in better as Penny. Consignment/Thrift stores have been good too. Shoes aren't much of a problem for me as I'm a 11 and there's almost always a few pair in my size in any given style if I'll get there when they first stock a shipment. My height and feet are at what I consider the upper end of the average woman's size but my hands are awful!

In my own experience shopping in person is traumatic only if you allow it to be, and actually has several advantages. Shopping in person means that you can try the clothes on for fit before spending your money. Shopping at a major retail store also means that whatever you see there is probably in style for the season which eliminates that worry as well. And sales associates at a major store will have been well trained to be nice to you no matter what, so go for it, shop in person, and you'll look better AND save money compared to shopping atonline stores!

No I shop as male and have gotten over the fear of does this person think I am some sort of pervert. Amazingly the way I have gotten past it is by buying from a local leotard manufacturer in the store. I found out where their store was because the first time I bought from them was online and they goofed my order with someone elses. While the other leo's I got were nice they were way to small (Read little kid). So I called them up and to tell them about it and got directions to where they were. I have been back quite a few times and have never walked out with feeling good about myself. Though to kind of through a * on the story I have not told them the leos are for me. Though I think they know. Other then that I am a shop-a-holic and will go in just to look around.

Interesting discussion, Aislin, I see my sister and I shop alike - no surprise!
My favorites are Thrift stores, only, I have come across some beautiful silk blouses and they were too small and I wanted to cry. These would sell for $100 - $200 any where else. I pick up some nice, expensive, lined skirts and slacks too, just a great place to shop.
We have a store called Burlington Coat Outlet and they usually have a great selection of sexy shoes. Summer I like 3" - 3 1/2" heels with open toes and they carry Calvin Klein hose (one of my favorties).
I also shop on EBay and have pretty good luck. Did have a couple of problems but the sellers took care of it - no problem!
Just remember: "When the going get tough! - The tough go shopping!"
Love ya,

I wish I could answer yes to this poll but I can't. Of course, I have just recently started to let Brianna come out to play.

I have made several purchases but always en drab.

I hope to experience the thrill of going out en femme later this summer. Currently I have a goatee and mustache that I can't shave off until mid-June. (I wouldn't be a very effective Cavalier without a mustache and goatee, now would I?)

I'll keep you posted on my progress.

Hi Aislin; Great question. Have gotten tired of the ladies clothes and birthday card purchases in this smaller than small town, so do almost all purchases online now, and most of the time dressed. Somehow I think it improves ones taste in clothes. "HE" has wasted a lot of money on stuff I'll never wear. After Fredricks and Victorias, I found a neat little auction sight linked off of femm.com. It is run by Anna Christopher up in Canada, she is a real sweetie, answers all my questions promptley, (except during the recent hockey playoffs ;) ) and everything is very discreet. And best of all, most things are really cheap. Got blouses, skirts, etc. starting at $5.00. And no I'm not related and trying to give her a plug. Hope you girls find this helpful, Huggs, Bonnie
