Who Has Used an Epilator.

Post by Gelinda »

:-k :-k Ok, First Question: Who has used an Epilator, if I am using correct name, The unit that has a Tweezers like device with the rf or Electro-shock to the root of the hair.

I am using one that I bought from a lady at work and so far seems to work. Only had for a week.

Biggest problem I have to have my face hairs long enough to catch in the tweezers. So last Sunday was the only day I could use it.

:P :P Gee.

)))))) .XX. <-->

I don't use that. I have decided to go ahead and shave my legs, but I have seriously considered using one. I've heard it does get easier to do, but it's painful at first.

Me too! Never used one, I will stick to shaving and Nair - ONLY ON MY LEGS! Blondes stumble sometimes and try new things like Nair on the chest! You will only do that once!

Uh uh Sis no I won't....I shall listen to you. :)

I also don't use that. I have far to much body hair to shave, to much work. So I just enjoy my hobby.... As is.

I have an epilator that plucks out a hair and its root but I only use it a few times a year because it´s so painful. After epilation I don´t have to shave my legs for about 2-3 weeks but epilation usually makes some hair grow under the skin and sometimes it causes a minor inflammation to the root.
It is true that epilation gets easier and less painful if you do it on a regular basis because the hair gets thinner. I think shaving is safer and much more comfortable way to get rid of body hair than mechanical epilation but this may not be the case with electric epilation.

Instead of nair use a product called Magic. My husband and I both use this product and it works very well.
It is a product intended for african american men for facial hair. It is a product similar to nair but without the nasty side affects. No burning or nasty smell. It is available in a powder that you mix with water, messy, or a cream. We use the cream. You can find it at Superwalmarts in the shaving isle where you find the mens products. It is also cheap, less than $3. I have seen it at some drug store chains also, Walgreens, but not in the cream.
Like with any product like this do a test patch first.

I have an Emjoy Optima that I purchased more than a year ago. I can basically tolerate the unpleasant sensation as the little electrical machine removes hair (thank God for endorphins :) ), and it is good for keeping the the growth at bay for a while, but I tend to have annoyingly frequent encounters with hairs that become ingrown, infected, or both. I might start using it again more frequently if I can find a way to significantly reduce the problem, but for the time being I've relegated the device to occasional use. :-k

Celia, Did the hair go away permantly after a few times. If it does not then I might go back to shaving. I have not seen any dark hairs in the small area that I did last weekend. Am going to do more this weekend been doing below my mouth first. Am going to do below my nose this weekend. I have psorosis too and I am hoping it will help it too. Gee.

I not only bought an Epilator, I bought a second cousin of it that I thought might be a little better. Wrong, wrong, wrong. I was afraid the tears would short out the motor. You had to let the hair grow to 1/4" and then let the dude do its thing. Maybe if they had provided morphine to go with it, it would have been bareable.
I do see possible applications for it however, as a substitute for law enforcement using stun guns. If I were questioned with the threat of having an Eiplator used on me, I would confess even if I were completely innocent.
It also might have application for S&M devotees - I wouldn't know since I'll cry over a broken nail.
If there were no dreams or fantasies, the prospect for our world would be dull indeed.

Just an update, now that I have power back to the house after the tornado in the area, I have used the epilator for two weekends and have not seen any problems as of yet. I have to go back and get a few missed clear hairs but so far no problems. Gee.

Silky Legs

Post by Hayley »

Hi Girls,
I use an Emjoi Gently, and have done so for about five years. Yes the hairs get thinner and softer and yes I do get ingrowns (only occasionally now). I am past the pain stage, now it is just a tingling sensation (Lucky Me!..^..). The way to stop the ingrowns is use a good Sisal loofah, and if you can get your hands on a good body scrub that contains either peach kernal grains or sea salt, in the shower everyday. Then whilst still in the shower give your legs a nice rub down with sorbelene cream and rinse thoroughly. If not when you get out of the shower use a good "after wax soothing cream".

If you want that silky look without the pantyhose or stockings, lightly sprinkle baby powder on your legs rub in evenly then moisturise. This works with any hair removal technique including shaving!

I use a Braun epilator, and I'm ok with it.
I tried using it a little on the face, but not too much sucess there.

For me, the legs are great, my wife always complained about the
"stubble" after shaving my legs. Even after using a top class razor and
soaking I still had a little stubble. With an epilator, you'll be smooth. Maybe not the first time, but if you use it once every week or so, it does great. I also use Curel, a combination moisterizer and hair growth retardent.
That's my 2 cents worth!
