Do you ever desire just to do a search on Google or another web search for a specific topic about crossdressing and just get NOTHING but crap????
It is really ashame...... LIke tonight I was thinking "I wonder if there is any clubs in the Houston area that are for CD's, nice clubs where it would be safe to go to with your wife....."
So I do several searches, with the obvious choices of words and get NOTHING but porno sites and garbage....
I don't know why it bothers me so much, but when it comes to searching for crossdressing on the internet, you just get slammed with trash, porn and popups..... useful information is next to impossible to find.
Shannon, I know what you mean. The only thing that has helped me here is the Earthlink Spam and Popup Filters but the finding the true things I am searching for is getting harder and harder to do.
As when I finally found this website, I had been looking all night as I have been have a lot of problems sleeping. All the other sites that deal with this stuff get into the sex and gay and junk that I am not into and will never be into.

I know what you mean Shannon, When I first entered the world of the net I traveled through many sites. I guess I searched for about a week before I found one that eventually led to this site. What I still don't understand is why I am unable to find any in the area that I live in?
Gelinda is right a pop up stopper is a must for that kind of activity.
Try going to houston.citysearch.com then search bars and nightlife, then click gay and lesbian. I found 22 bars. Maybe you can find what you are looking for amongst those.

I agree with you Shannon, there is nothing but negativity when you type in the word "Crossdresser". That's what makes this site so special and I am certainly glad to have found my way here.
While I agree that for crossdreessing on the net is not the greatest you got to remmeber that it is just a tool or as I sometime like to look at it a REALY BIG BOOK with a lot info and some of it may not be helpful.

I agree with Shannon that there is an awful lot of porn and near-porn out there that its creators advertise as being about crossdressing. A few minutes ago, I typed the single word “Crossdressing” into the Google search box and clicked the button. When my search results appeared, the first five items were labeled “sponsored links.” These are quoted verbatum above.
What annoys me the most is that Google considers the “crossdressing experience” as including dressing in female clothing, using hormones, reading erotic stories, watching explicit sexual activities, and getting together with local “trannies” for casual sex. The impression this creates is that if I like to wear a blouse, I must participate in all these other activities, too. Although I am by no means a prude (and do not judge others by their lifestyle choices, as long as these do not harm innocent others), I do find it annoying that a multi-billion dollar corporation such as Google associates crossdressing with pornography via its “sponsored links.” That is not the kind of public relations we need!

The internet exists the way it does (for better or worse) because it satisfies a demand (again, for better or worse). To change it would be akin to falling on your own sword!
Alexandra is basically right on this one. It doesn't really matter what you're looking for: if you don't qualify your search, you're going to get gigahits of irrelevant crap. When I use Google (and I almost always do), I invariably use Advanced Search and take as much advantage of its features as is necessary to get results I find satisfactory. Of course, even that isn't 100% effective, and you often have to make several different attempts, but it's a heck of a lot better than the results produced by the default, couch-potato interface.
Alexandra is absolutely right. Not only do you have to refine your search, but it's best that you type in something specific as to what you are looking for or else you'll end up with crap. Also when typing within the text field always seperate your words with a '+' sign.
For example: 'support+groups+for+crossdressers'. Not only does it speed up the results, but it will only supply with you with information that are high on the google search engine database.
Plus remember girls, it is best to use their 'advance search' link, at least there you can filter out unecessary 'adult' associated sites.
When I first started using the internet's search engines, I was horrified.
But, I think that it's true for any subject that you are doing a search for, not only for "crossdressing".
I have done searches ( using other search engines besides "Google") and I usually get some kind of porn or trash, etc., etc.
I don't feel that the internet should be censored, but I do think we shouldn''t have to get all the porno sites etc., etc. in our search results..... unless that is what we key into the search engine. If someone is looking for that stuff, they will find it........
I don't want it, and I'm not looking for it, so why do I have to be subject to it?

This topic just reminded me of doing my first search for crossdressing on my new WEB TV like 8 years ago,,,,, wow maybee a million pages to look at back then!!!
Good thing that didnt scare me off, because after weeding out most of the crap I got lucky and found some real people like myself, and here I am now
4 computers later and a broadband connection, I can delete things even faster now LOL
