I've always wondered whether or not people I know or with whom I am familiar through daily routine activities as a guy are actually cd/tg girls with whom I also have acquaintance through online, etc. I mean, I must have seen people or know men that I've seen dressed up online but had no clue as the two are the same.

If Lois Lane had a hard time seeing that Clark Kent was Superman, and all that kept them distinct (at least their faces) was a pair of eyeglasses, then it must be so much more difficult to make such an identification if the person is wearing makeup, has their hair done up, and looking a way where the perception would be of someone of a different gender. I mean, at least Lois Lane knew that superman and clark kent were both male!

It'd be even more strange finding out about someone through online (e.g., knowing a fellow online t-girl, then finding out it's, say, you're teacher or dad's friend, etc.).

It is a smaller world than we think!

Statistics indicate that upward of 10% of the population are crossdressers.
So if you see a lot of people, you are pretty much guaranteed that one of them is a CD'er. Yep! it is a small world. I told my shrink on my first meeting that I was very happy with myself and that for all I know he could be sitting there wearing women's unmentionables - he just smiled!

Hi Jill:
Very thought provoking question. After serving 20+ years active duty military, and working inter-agency with all branches, I would always be saying to myself, "I wonder how many of these guys?" There is a web sight called the NCO CLUB, for CD Military, active and prior, and I find myself going through it from time to time, just wondering how many of these folks I know. Can be a fun game sometimes. "Spot the CD" Thanx Jill.

Yes I often think about that and I have a suspicion that a couple that I know (who I see regularly) are members of this board, or at least lurkers here.

Jill, regarding your reference to Superman/Clark Kent --

One of my favorite things about being a CD comes when someone who knows me only as either Barbara or "non-Barbara" sees the other for the first time and doesn't realize it's the same person.

A few months ago, I was en femme at a neighborhood bar, and a GG whom I'd never seen before, a friend of the bartender, was photographing everyone and everything in the place. She asked me to pose, so I sat on the pool table, crossed my legs, flipped my hair back, and the photo was taken.

Three weeks later, I went back to the bar (as my male self) and met her there again. She had the photos with her, and some of the other patrons were looking at them. I walked over and asked her, "May I see the one you took of me?" She looked at me and said, "I don't remember taking your picture. Were you here that night?"

"Um, yes. You asked me to pose."

(Even more puzzled) "I did?"

"Yeah. The blonde on the pool table?"

"Get the @#$% outta here!" She found the photo, looked at it and me, back and forth two or three times, then her jaw hit the floor.

I love when that happens!

I have often wondered the same thing. I have received emails for help from girls who I had a gut feeling was in the same town I'm in. Mainly because I would recognize the .com their email came from as a local service provider. I have also seen some people I know at support group meetings and that's always fun to see the look on their face when they realize who I am.

I think about that too. "Who's the CD'r"? lol

You bringing up the Lois Lane thing is very important. I mean people don't even notice the hair color changes women do at work.

So I doubt anyone would guess that Clark Kent would be Superman.

No one notices about my facial hair being gone. They've just come to expect that I'll be clean shaven.

Kind of funny.

I actually have a friend who I`ve known as a guy for about 8 years. Well, about a year ago,I was attending a meeting for one of the TG groups I belong to, and after dinner we were all looking through the groups photo albums, and I saw my friend in there all dolled up. I next time I saw my friend, I asked about the group, and the pictiure I had seen..and Wow was she surprised to find out I dress too. Now that we both know about eachother`s dressing, we go out together as girls quite a bit. Just goes to show, that us girls, are everywhere.

I have caught myself, At wal-mart and other stores when I am standing around, Looking at all the people and attempting to find the cd's whether en femme or not. I have always watched people but now I am watching to see the differences in manner and form. Gee.

I'm sure that others are suspicious of me , the shaved arms and long fingernails are a bit of a giveaway ( they haven't seen my legs) but I recall a few years back when I got rid of my long hair and one of my workmates said to me , "hmm! had a lifestyle change eh " .
Further back there was a documentry on television about a 16 year old boy who refered to HERself as Bianca , this was an interesting show about teenage gender disphoria ( dont know if I spelt that right) but anyway the guys at work were discussing it the next day.
When I walked into the discussion they made jokes about me and that being my future , but then they said seriously that I should try it because I would be perfect for the roll.
Well fella's I've been doing it for years , but I didn't tell them that.

I have one workmate who has admitted to wearing his girlfriends underwear .

Well, the young lady with whom I've been spending time is an artist who supplements her income by working some 30 hours a week at a local Payless Shoe...(that's where we met by the way!)...in any event, she has told me that in the six months or so that she's worked there, she has been "amazed" at the number of men buying women's shoes...and that she has told her supervisor that they should order a greater variety in the larger women's sizes! There is also a Dress Barn store and a TJ Maxx store in the same strip mall, and she's seen men come into the Payless with bags from those stores as well...she really couldn't put a percentage on it as the vast majority of the customers at the Payless are still women, but she was quite surprised nonetheless!
