You Stated Anyway,I don't want to hijack this thread so I shall start another about this in the appropriate section!
Curly (SO) and others.
Please feel free to continue here. I thoroughly enjoy it when my threads provoke other discussion. That is often what I hope they will do. My question will still get answered. I just want you all to know that I do not get offended over things such this.
I chose the first option ("as a man"), though I'd have preferred say that I liked both my male and female presentations equally. Trouble is, I have no idea how to transition from Angie The Frump and find what girls such as Stef, Beauty, CJ, et. al. have discovered hiding under the surface. Weight is a big (no pun intended) issue for me. I doubt that I will ever see the south side of 200 again, but there's still a whole lot of room for improvement.
Looking through Stef's pictures and wig choices over the years, I'm sure that I've made beginners mistakes. I just don't have the nerve to go to a shop and ask what wig "works" for me. Then there's the makeup issue. For me it's not so much a question of passing as it is wanting to like what I see in the mirror. There is a definite sense of information overload when looking at all of the recomendations offered for CDs on a myriad of sites. It would be nice if there was a place a girl could go and have someone experienced in the art of femme correct the mistakes. I've read where some salons provide just this service for CDs, but they tend to be in larger cities and merit mixed reviews. Any suggestions?
Amazed at the inner and outer beauty displayed by everyone here,
Angie
Didn't you say you planned on attending SCC this year? If so, there will be quite a few people in the vendor area that give makeovers and will explain what they are doing and why they are doing it.
Please don't let your weight hinder you. I know plenty of big beautiful women!
Hugs,
Stef
Live with memories of what you have done, not regrets over what you wish you had done.
Angie, again with a sister here. Stef is right, you know; the art (or the technique) of beauty is to find ways to enhance and highlight what you have, not just what you wish you had (or didn't have, for that matter).
Also, keep in mind (and I know this from first-hand experience) most owners of wig shops are more than familiar with the special breed of customers we are. They're usually incredibly helpful and a lot less embarrassed than we are when we try on wigs (especially the first few times) in their shops.
Thanks for all the encouraging words!!! I will definitely check out the makover sessions at SCC. Now September can't get here fast enough! Hopefully someone there will know what physical attribute(s) I should be building upon. I'm concerned (probably needlessly) that the folks at the conference will be thinking, "this guy is too big/masculine/etc. to even think about trying to present as a woman". Judging from the photo album at the SCC web site, there don't seem to be as many linebackers as there are really nice looking ladies in attendance.
Lorna, you'd be cute even in corduroy overalls, beat-up Nikes, gardnerer's gloves, and a propellerhead cap. I really don't think you have anything to worry about on that front, girl. You're gorgeous.
