Got Lucky!

I had a preminission to go to Goodwill and shop a bit! Lucked out, not only found a cute little tight gray mini but WOW!! A beautiful red pure silk red skirt ( I am wearing it now). It is georgeous! About mid- calf in length and soooo light. The slightest movement and it just seems to float and in a slight breeze soooo sexy! Go shopping girls and good hunting!!!

Hi Deb,
I'll bet you look absolutly stunning in it,

There is one place you can't keep me out of " SAVERS " , second hand clothing costs virtualy nothing plus the range is enormous with everything in good condition in easy to find designated sections .
sometimes you can find a brand new item with the original price tag still attached and it may read $60 , but you get it for $4.95 .

The Salvo's family stores are throughout Australia and I recently picked out an item marked at $10 , it was brand new and the original price tag was inside and read $265.00 .
Like a true woman , if I like something "I never knock back a bargain " !

so HAPPY BARGAIN HUNTING GIRLS !!!!

CDKathy,
If they have a Goodwill store in Burlington you may want to check it out!
I only paid $2.95 for the silk skirt. At our store all the skirts and slacks are priced at $2.95 each regardless. I picked up a silk blouse that had to sell new for $200.00 and it still had the tags on it (only $2.95). Sometimes I want to cry when I see some of the beautiful clothes but they are not my size.
When the going gets tough, the tough go shopping.

Hi Deborah,

Ever hear the expression "you can't get there from here"? Well, somebody neglected to build east/west roads in this state. :?

In order to go west to Burlington I either have to go north or south first. Either way, it is nearly 3 hours one way from here to there. I don't think I'll burn $20 in gasoline to find a $3 skirt. :(

Oh, well, there is always Ebay. :)

Anyway, I already spent my allotment on some new undies from the VS bra & panty sale. That's why I'm a bit pinched for cash at the moment.

Maybe it's related to local cost of living, but Goodwill prices here are just a little more. Still, twenty dollars gets me, on average, two outfits and one extra piece. Sometimes I spend more, other times less, but I still have twice as many clothes as I had before I started going there six weeks ago.

Hi all,

I think the prices in thrift stores can vary from region to region, sometimes from store to store.

I have several Salvation Army, Amvets, and Goodwill stores to choose from.

One time at Goodwill, everything was half price, so my red satin and lace bridesmaid dress was $7.50.

The Salvation Army stores have different colored tags on items, and every day there is one color of tag that's half price that day.

At Amvets it seems that items that have been around for several weeks start getting marked down.

One recent bargain was a turquoise Alfred Dunner skirt (with pockets, a must for my wife) with a Salvation Army price tag of $3. That color tag was half price that day, so a real bargain at $1.50. It fits both me and my wife - we share :) .

Shop On!

Hi all,

Yes, I, too, can picture you in your slinky red satin nightshirt, Deborah. I have a few of those myself, in various colours, which I tend to wear with loose, flowing satin lounging pants (with pantyhose underneath--it's a sensual dream!).

I often shop at thrift stores and have come across amazing bargains. Just in my own neighbourhood, there are three stores I regularly go to (all within a couple of minutes walking distance from my home); at one of them, the owner is so familiar with my tastes in clothing that she'll sometimes set an item aside if she thinks it might appeal to me.

The items I buy most often, though (aside from used books :P ) are shoes (cost: between $2.99 and $9.99... always in excellent condition or even brand new!). I now own more than two dozen pairs, along with half a dozen pairs of boots in various styles. It's come to the point where some of my GG friends ask me if I've bought anything interesting lately. Yes, I occasionally trim down my shoe rack by giving friends some of my shoes. Just ten days ago or so, I gave one of my colleagues a gorgeous pair of vinyl, "alligator skin," calf-length high heeled boots that were a bit too small for me. They fit her perfectly! Once, a friend was slightly peeved by the fact that, going through my shoe rack, she found a pair of shoes identical to ones she'd recently bought for about $130 and for which I'd only paid $5. :P

Shop on, girls!

Love,
CJ

Yes, CJ regional prices vary and so do the stores. We have a "Discovery Shop" (American Cancer Society). They have so many volunteers that they are able to go through and individually price items. They also get some of the very "high-end" clothing and new close-outs from local stores.
They also have a great selection of jewelry and I get a lot of mine there, but the clothing is rather pricey as compared to Goodwill. I was in a Goodwill out side of Dayton, Ohio last year. It was hugh and I only had a few minutes - it was so sad, I could have spent a day in there -- and who knows how much money?? ha ha.

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to add that I too think the Thrift Store is a great place to shop for femme clothes. Only last week my wife and I went to one near a slightly nicer area of town (you tend to get better stock in those) and found this gorgeous little summer dress in pale blue with little flowers on it. It has short sleeves and small shoulder pads. It was only $5

My wife thinks I look very sweet in it. I sure do feel sweet when I wear it :-)

Thrift stores are great!

Deborah,

Sounds like you hit paydirt! I only wish I could find something like that. I also visited the local Goodwill store today, but decided to go while fully dressed. Never shopped for clothes en femme before. It was an eye opening experience. Felt like every eye in the store was on me, but in reality, no one made any long stares.

Unfortunately, I didn't have any luck finding anything that would stretch over my fat butt (and all the other fat, Ha! Ha!), but the trip was fun.

Take Care :)

Beauty,
You mentioned wardrobes, I am (small steps) trying to get my wife's input on my wardrobe, just to get her involved. I like my wardrobe, but she. well she doesn't think it "suits" me. Anyway as a sideline, I am planning on going to the SCC in Atlanta and can not believe that I am already planning on how many outfits will fit into my Expedition! I am getting a good dose of what GG must go through when they plan a nice outting. All the decisions and then you decide you don't have enough or even worse the right things to wear - this is really going to be fun!
Love,
Deborah
