How do these warmer temperatures affect your dressing rituals? Does the blazing heat and humidity influence how often you dress?
Here in NY we had an abnormally HOT month of May, forcing many people to break out their summer clothes and put in the air conditioners a month early. Although we did get a cool break for the first few days in June, alas the sweltering heat and humidity bears down upon us once again.
Normally I try to dress on the weekends, even when I stay in. But with the rising mercury I get to a point where I don’t even want to think about putting on makeup, bra or wig. I sweat like crazy, and the heat just makes it all too uncomfortable. The ability to seek refuge under the air conditioner is limited at best, especially with most summer activities taking place OUTDOORS. One must not only contend with the temperature, but also various insects as well. For me these things are much easier to bear without a hot, thick wig sitting on my head, or a sweaty bra and forms literally stuck to my chest.
With the exception of the Invasion of the Pines festival on July 4, I really don’t anticipate dressing at all for the duration of what is sure to be another long, hot, sticky summer.
How do you deal with the summer heat? Do you brave the heat anyway? Or do you put it all aside till the fall? Let’s discuss the topic of summer heat & how it affects the desire to dress.
