Thanks for the sites. I especially liked Xeon's Paradox, however I would carry it to a different forum. By his reasoning we can never die, because we would continue in the "only half way there" paradox!
Reading the rest of the "stuff" simply made me wish I had taken some physics in school other than the high school where (dare I say we learned sign language) and you know why!
I guess as we get older and I for one seem to have the patience now to read and try and understand, quantum physics and mechanics, it does appear much more interesting since we seem to have life experiences to draw on.
You know the difference between civil engineers and mechanical engineers?
mechanical engineers build weapons and civil engineers build targets!

Hello Marda:

Some simple advice. Everyone has a life string. No two life strings are the same. How you choose to live your life is totally up to you. Draw a line, place a dot on it that represents you, and move forward toward the finish line. Take responsibility for your actions always.

Do not step into any manholes.

Do not stand to close to the curb in any major city.

Do not take candy or money from strangers!

If possible, be yourself!

You know, even falling into manholes can have its benefits. I'm reminded of a short allegory I once read in a book on mental health (I think the tale was lifted from a television series).

A man was walking down the street when he fell into an open manhole. Slightly injured but nevertheless okay, he realized he was stuck down there. He began calling for help. After a while, a doctor walked by and heard him. He saw the man was in pain. He wrote a prescription and threw it down the hole. The man continued to cry for help. Moments later, a priest walked by and, hearing the shouts, peered into the hole. He saw the man was stuck down there so he wrote a prayer on a piece of paper and threw it down the hole, before walking away. The man, increasingly desperate, started shouting even louder. After a bit, a man walked by and then, hearing the anguished shouts coming from below, he jumped into the hole. The injured man was so relieved! Until, that is, he realized their predicament. "Hey!" he said to his would-be rescuer, "why'd you do that? Now we're both stuck here!" "No," replied the kind stranger, "I've been here before. And I know the way out."

Since I first read this, I've never looked at manholes the same way again. Nor at strangers.
