On Saturday I had dinner in the city with 2 CD friends of mine, and then a bunch of us went to a club afterwards.
I was home putting on makeup and had my outfit laid out – I dressed in a white tank top, short frilly denim skirt, and white sandals. I topped this outfit off with my denim jacket & a cute white purse that I picked up earlier that day.
By 6:30 I was ready to go. I decided to throw on a pair of baggy pants over the skirt for my 15 minute walk to the train stop as I didn’t want to draw too much attention (at least not yet! hehe) I reached the station and the train arrived shortly thereafter.
The train arrived at Penn Station at 7:30. I jumped on the A train down to 23rd Street and 5 minutes later walked into East Of Eighth. East Of Eighth is a bar/restaurant in Chelsea that not only serves as a hub for all the T-girls of NYC to meet up & plan the night ahead, but it’s also a great place to have an elegant meal w/o breaking your wallet. I went into the ladies room and changed back into my skirt. I then proceeded to the bar. Since our dinner reservation wasn’t till 8:00 and I still had 20 minutes I went to the bar for a drink.
Finally the hostess called me over at 8:00 and led me to the table out in the garden area. Michelle arrived a few minutes later and then Cathi showed up not too much later after that. We finally ordered and ate. I was really enjoying the atmosphere – based on the financial struggles I have been having this year, I had really missed having dinner at a decent restaurant. It felt good to finally have a real dinner once again, a dinner that did not involve the words “super size”.
After dinner Michelle, Cathi, and I retired to the bar area where we were greeted by Genifer, Lilly, Jamie, and Crystal Frost. We had a few more drinks at the bar and finally decided on out next destination. There were three GGs from California we met at the bar and they were looking for some fun so we decided to take them with us. We decided to go to a club on the West side called Crobar. Now, I had been to Webster Hall many a night but was curious about this new club. So we all left East of Eighth, hailed a couple of taxis and drove on over.
We got to Crobar around 11. I could not believe how long the line was but Genifer motioned for all of us to walk right up to the door. Sure enough, they admitted us in and handed us our entrance tickets – no cover, no waiting!!
Once inside I was completely taken back by the décor. There were two main dance rooms: the smaller room playing classic 70s & 80s dance music, and the larger room playing gut-thumping techno. We were the only T-girls in the club but that did not matter. The GGs in the club were beautiful and were paying us compliments left and right. An excellent ice-breaker for a hetero CD is when you compliment a GG on her outfit or her shoes… I obtained two phone numbers and an e-mail that night.
Finally at around 2:00 our GG friends had to leave so we entered the techno room and really started to dance hardcore. We were all receiving compliments from women and men alike. I even had my butt grabbed once or twice but this time I did not mind!
Cathi, Genifer and I were the last ones left and we finally left the club shortly after 3. We stopped at a diner on 23rd street for breakfast and then headed home.
Another successful night in NYC…
If you're ever in NY, I HIGHLY recommend East of Eighth.
