Connie's day-8/5

Post by Connie »

Hi Ladies and Ladies,

I’d like to relate my day today. Being on vacation from work (I think) I decided to take a day and go out shopping en femme.

I began preparing last night by Nairing my legs, shaving my chest (Sometime early morning, removing the hair on my arms), attaching my breast forms, putting on false nails, painting them and my toenails the same color.

This morning after breakfast, a shower and close shave I got dressed in bra and panties with hip and butt pads, waist-cincher anf pantyhose. I wore a maroon short-sleeve sweater I bought last night at Wal-mart, a black skirt from Layne Bryant, and low-heeled (about 1 inch) black shoes.

My makeup was foundation, darkened eyebrows, mascara and lipstick. I finished off with an ash brown/light blond-frosted shoulder-length monofilament wig, hoop earrings and a little perfume. I filled a purse with the necessities and was off! I did everything I could think of not to give male cues to people.

One reason for going today was that it is the first day on some new coupons, so my first stop was at Lane Bryant (in Willowbrook Mall). As usual, even when I go shop in drab, one of the floor people come up to me and ask if I need any help. Today was a bit different! She introduced herself, asked if I needed help (no), said she would be around if I needed her and that she had the key for the dressing room (never got that before!) and then she Ma’amed me! Having the highlight of the day first thing makes one expect more. (btw, is it likely that she would just “play along” and/or just be polite or was this really me passing?)

I picked up a mock-layered t-shirt, set of pajamas, plus two pair of earrings, one pair is really unique in that it is made as a spiral and just hooks through your lobe.

I paid using my debit/check card (with my real name on it) and the cashier did not indicate any problem with it.

My next stop was to a near-by wig shop to look at the window display. The person there I assume was probably in the back room working on wigs, and since I did not intend to purchase anything, I did not go in.

My next stop, after a bit of a road detour, was at The Avenue. I was looking for a pair of shoes and when I’m looking for shoes go at least partly dressed (panty hose and slip on shoes) so that I can try on shoes. They have shoes in some styles that go up to 13W though if I can try them on I have purchased some shoes in 11WW.

What I did purchase was a light jacket, swimsuit, and a blouse. Paid with by debit card again with no problem.

Next I headed for home for transmogrification back to the beast.

Unfortunately I forgot to take my digital camera so did not get pictures (like I wanted.)

I hope to do a similar day in two weeks when I take another week’s vacation.

Connie,

What a great day you had!

I really enjoy reading of your experience.

In Lane Bryant, I think you probably passed. If you didn't, she was at least impressed so much with your effort to pass that she knew she had a potential customer with money to spend, so she treated you with curtesy. Did you try anything on?

My wife and I shop together (I'm always in total male mode when I leave the house) at a certain Avenue store fairly often - some of their closeout items are really good bargains and my wife is on their coupon mailing list. We wear mostly the same sizes except shoes, and borrow clothes from each other once in a while. She doesn't try things on at the store very often, but she has a couple of times there. Have you tried anything on at an Avenue store?

Please tell us about the next time, and I hope you remember your digital camera.

Hi Jadeanne

No, I've never tried anything on in the stores (add Fashion Bug to the list) in the few times I've gone shopping "dressed", although, I am finding that, at least for LB, the size of pants I expect to fit actually are loose in the waist, even without cinching but the hip and butt seem fine.

Hi Connie,

What a great story. Is that the Willowbrook Mall in Houston? If so I worked on a huge Department store there when they built it.

Anyway, my wife is the manager of a Dress Barn and a Dress Barn Women, and they consider crossdressers as part of thier clientell. I know they would never say you were unpassable, even if you were. But no matter, because I beleive this is a trend. Whatever the reason, others see it and find that it is appropriate to treat us with respect and diginity. In this regard I am very happy for you.

I am glad you had such a great day and look forward to your future posts.

Love always,
Elizabeth

There goes Connie - Keepin the Faith!! You Rock girl! We are all proud of you. Love your line about becoming "the beast" That is how I feel when I have to convert back. I also agree that the stores are taking the position that "our" money is green like everybody elses and "we" pay there salary with our purchases and they have learned that some or us will "explain things" to them if we are not treated properly.
Love ya,
Deborah

Thanks Elizabeth, Sophie and Deborah,

This Willowbrook Mall in in Wayne, New Jersey about 45 minutes from home. The Wayne area is a rather concentrated area of Malls and shopping plazas and is at the intersection of 3 major highways.

I often shop in the stores I went to on Thursday but as a man. That is why the mention of the saleslady of having the key to the dressingroom was significant to me.

I get nervous entering these stores as a man and often have driven down and not even entered. But of course, no matter who you are, your money is good and I am sure they welcome it with open hands.

Thanks again ladies for responding!
