An unusual confidence

Post by Hayley »

Well it is somewhat quite the surprise that I have found someone other than my SO and Sister CD's in which to confide. Although I have told my Mum that I am a CD, I didn't quite expect that my step-fathers neice, to whom I had lost contact with for 15years, would openly discuss the subject.

B, for her privacy's sake, and I have both been supporting each other, as each others confidants, since the sad passing of our beloved Grandmother. We have both found it hard to cope, so have been chatting regularly since. Anyway we were chatting one day and suddenly the subject of Alternative Lifestyles was broached. B had asked me how I felt about the subject, and I said that everyone has the right to be who they want to be without being treated as an outsider. Since then we have discussed, her lifestyle choices, and my CDing on a regular basis. It did take me a bit to open up at first, but she was pouring her heart out to me and I felt I needed to let her know she was not on her own. So I made my admission. All aspects of CDing, including how it affects others close to us, has been discussed.

This could possibly be B's way of coping with her own doubts and difficulties, by discussing something that does not directly affect her. Either way I am glad that she and I can open up about anything, and get things off our collective chests in a non-judgemental, non-patronising manner. It is quite refreshing that we can discuss a myriad of issues faced by CD's and their SO's, being so close to home for me, and not feel rejection or awkwardness.

This does not take away from my Sisters here, but just thought I would share this little ray of sunshine in my otherwise cloudy day.

Love to you all

Hi Hayley,

Sounds fantastic, I think it's those little things that seem to help us along the way. Something so simple as chatting away with someone can have such a great effect.

Bravo to both you and B =D>

And as Sophie says, hugs are in order (--)

Thank you both Sophie and Rebecca. Yes it is lovely to just get it out in the open with someone close. And to answer your question Sophie, I did have difficulty at first finding the right words but in the end I just said it straight out "B, I'm a crossdresser!" Since then I have sent photo's to B and she thinks I look great and she wishes I could have been her big sister and not her male cousin. That I think is so sweet.

Again thanks for your lovely comments. Will keep you all posted on how things go for both myself and B.

Who Will You Talk With When The Lights Go Out ?

Post by Marda »

Hi Hayley
*Great* to hear this tale
You've hit on one of the elements I was aiming for when I made my *nasty* little plug about *Not Depending* on CyberConnections for support ... one of the main principles of general *System Security* along with having a "disaster recovery plan" is *Avoiding* "Single Points Of Failure" ...
It was both surprising & *not* surprising to notice in the news recently that a full year after Southern Ontario & NE U.S.A experienced the worst hydro power failure in decades (not an area of small importance in terms of global human and economic activity) ... and after all the bureaucrats, beancounters and politicians had exhausted every avenue & possibility of blaming someone else for their screwup, they've "decided" #-o to avoid any decisions and do *absolutely nothing* to prevent it from happening again ... so Ms.Clinton says in her *sound byte* "Somebody ought to *do something*" #-o #-o

Lovely ... just Lovely [-o<

Anywaze ... Good For You & Your Family Member Hayley ... Bonus "Human Being" Points Scored !!! =D>

That's very nice to have family members you can talk with. Keep people like that close to you and don't lose them. Except for my Mom and Dad, I don't speak with any relatives, they can't stand me, and I don't care for them and their opinions. So Hayley, don't spoil that relationship you have.

Hi all,

Hayley,

That's great that you and B can share so much. It's often difficult for men and women (regardless of their family ties) to develop close friendship bonds. Bravo to you both for opening yourselves up to each other!

It's a blast that the same bit of revelation also just happened to Rebecca with one of her own friends.

Please, do keep us posted, eh?

Love,
CJ

Haley,

I think that is so cool. Until I came here I had no one to talk to about it. I now have my older kids to talk to, and my best friend, so I understand what a great thing this can be. I am really happy for you not just that you have an outlet, but that you found the courage to trust another human being with the most personal part of your life. I am very proud of you.

Love always,
Elizabeth
