First Meeting

Post by Virginia »

WEll I went to my first Blue Ridge Society/SBS Social, Saturday night.
Where to start, from the beginning? OK thanks: I finished my workout about 1:00 (the meeting was set for 4:00pm at local hotel). I immediately began multi-tasking! whiteing teeth and toenail polish both about five minutes. I wanted to put off shaving as long as possible, then "Panic City" my son gets home early from work- has questions, hide toenails, son's friends arrive, I am still trying to get ready, all of a sudden its like 2:30. Kids all over the house me trapped in my bedroom with my make-up, shoes, clothing, etc in another bedroom down the hall. Now its 3:00 and they begin to leave. Hurry, can't get ready in less than an hour, forget acrylic nails, just paint nails, shave, carefully! OK now moisturer and then make-up and finally, panties, hose and bra, got to be conserative. Sophie, I ended up wearing my mid-calf red silk skirt, red slip and a tan silk pull-over with bell cuffs. (Saw that color combination in Glamour- actually looks pretty good) Tan 3" open heel/toe sandals, brunette hair, lip liner, lipstick. Grab my purse and out the door. Unbelieveable, must have driven by every one of my neighbors, either out jogging, cutting grass, walking, what ever - just deal with it!! I looked nice.
Arrived at about 4:30pm found the room, knocked and remember our concern about how we would react to male voices? The "president of the Blue Ridge Society greeted me - "You must be, Deborah?" (now Virginia) but that - never mind! anyway there were seven ladies there and I was introduced to each one, all were dressed feminine from jeans to pant suits to dresses. Girls, it was (the word I am looking for escapes me) but it was just a group of girls sitting around chatting. No one (except maybe? yours truly) appeared the least bit nervous, the saying about"You hear what you see!" Is soooo true!! The voices were irrelevant - I swear I did not even notice - we were just a group of girls talking.
For reasons that are immaterial, I could not go to dinner with them or to "party" afterward but the president sent me an Email with some picture s we took and said they missed me at diiner but everyone had a great time. A couple of them had been to the SCC in Atlanta (that I am going to!) They said it is, well one description was, kinda like the movie, "Animal House" and the toga party only it lasts for three days so be prepared to Party Hardy!!!! I'll regress a bit, but they said, picture a guy in a beautiful gown, bombed out of his gord, but still trying to maintain his feminine personna? uh and multiple that 100! and yet another line from the movie."This is gonna be fun!" And even more fun since several of our sisters here are going! We will try and "keep the faith" and try and remember we are your ambassadors,"one Tequila, two tequila. three tequila - floor!"
But all seriousness aside - no seriously, if you have the chance to attend a local meeting of your sisters, do it!!!! It will be well worth your time I promise! There is more , but I can not put it in writing on this forum, no nothing dirty, just some observations! I'll say this much - we (this forum) are well ahead in this game!
Love ya ALL!

Virginia (Pretty name! What brought on the change?),

Thanks for the update! I wondered how things went. I can only imagine your frustration level as you were trying to be discreet while getting ready. Your choice of attire sounds quite beautiful. Just don't show me up too much at the SCC. Ha! Ha!

About the voice issue. I'm glad you brought that up. I hope to attend my first Tri-Ess meeting this weekend and didn't know what to expect. I was afraid that everyone had mastered their femme voice (that's a loooong ways off for me).

Take Care :)

Angie,
As for the voice thing it ain't no big thing! After the first couple of introductions you will forget all about it and the actions/reaction just flows. Your a lady, their all ladies just converse as girls would and it will come so natural. Just speak in your normal voice you will do great.
As for the name change, I have been thinking about it for quite a while. My mother who died of alcoholism when I was seven was named Virginia and her mother, my grandmother was named Irene, so I want to honor them as I feel they would be proud of their "new" daughter. Errgo, Virginia Irene.
Now I want you to go to the meeting, have fun, be yourself and remember you are our ambassador. Stand up straight, be ladylike and smile!!! and tell us how it goes!!!!
Love ya,
Virginia

Virgina,

How wonderful. I told you the voice thing is a no starter. Anyway, I am curious, the last I heard you were going in drab because of guests at your house? Glad you were able to dress, and sorry that you got rushed preparing. I can not be rushed, I am just not good enough. Get ready in one hour? unheard of.

I am so glad you had such a great time. I look forward to your future posts telling us about your "observations".

Love always,
Elizabeth

Virginia,

Sounds awesome... firstly, great sounding outfit :)

I've said this before, but why when you go out are all the neighbours out lol you know what, I don't think it's any different than normal I just think you are more aware of what and who is around you.

Anyways... sounds like a cool night, certainly makes me want to get out :)

So when's the next one? lol

*hugs*

Well as I said this was like the scrimmage before the big game. The SCC in Atlanta is going to be such fun!! With several of the girls here on our forum going we will leave our mark!! My plans are to leave here on Wednesday the 29th of September drive part way, spend the night in South Carolina then dress and drive into Atlanta on Thursday and have a ball!! leaving Sunday to drive home. Right now my plans are to borrow my training partners little red Nissan sports car, it gets 30+ MPG compared to my Expedition at 12 - 15mpg. I am gonna look so cool- -blonde in a red sports car flying down the Interstate!! I am getting so excited about it! I just hope I can get all the clothes I want take into the car!!

Hi Virginia,

Sorry I missed this post when you originally posted it several days ago. GOOD FOR YOU!!! :) =D> =D> =D>

Do you think it helped you get ready for the SCC mentally? If so, how? Did your wife know you were going to the support meeting and what are her feelings about the SCC?

I think it's a HUGE step you took!!! I'm very proud of you!!! :) Thank you for sharing that very important story with us! :)

Thanks Beauty,
Yes this meeting did help me get ready mentally for the SCC. I am really looking foward to meeting several of my sisters from here too, Cindy, Angie and JoAnn. I have already EMail several of the girls that were at the meeting, one from Richmond and one came down from your neck of the woods, No.Va.
Anyway at the SCC I won't be rushed to get dressed and made-up like I was for this meeting, I just did not look as good as I wanted, but no matter, I had a good time and I felt comfortable. Angie is going to one this week-end in Charlotte. I kow she will do all right.
As for my wife - well that's another story for another time!
Love ya,
