Jesus used a whip and over turned the table of the money changers. Would you be prepared to do that?

PS. This post was moved and given the tittle Bible talk. I have edited it to change the tittle, as I am not interested in being seen as one who is involved in the exegesis of what the Bible says.

I have not participated in that in the past and do not intend to do so now. And will not participate in that kind of activity on this forum. If that has not being made clear in the past, let it be clear now.

Here is something that I was going to post but thought better of it!?
Not being a real scholar of the Bible, there is a statement that says something to the affect that we should gather together in His name! This becomes the basis for church every Sunday, but I think it goes much furthur than that. Can we not all agree that we on this forum using the Bible as a guide/self-help book what ever. Do we not gather together here and share stories of love, empathy, struggle, compassion, failure, success, bravery, fear, conquest. I can say this, I have been around the block a few times, my father-in-law is a retired minister. Girls, there is more good will, love, growth, help, compassion, empathy on this site than any of ten different churches I have ever attended.
Maybe we should apply for tax exemption, change the name to the Crossdresser's Chuch of the Next Evolution?

I stand corrected. It is my perception of the gospel that it was his intention to deliberately upset the temple priests, and so displeasure for what was going on there. However, it is nonetheless violence.

Bible says:

Mark 11:15

I was thinking more about his general attitude.

Sorry for the confusion, I am far from being a theologian. Just my perception. But nonetheless, there is plenty of good stuff in thier whether you choose to beleive in the religion per se. I was only trying to identify with Jesus' attitude of acceptance of all and the idea that if a man should slap you, you should not slap him back, but turn the other cheek to him. Or when he asked for those with no sin to cast the first stone. These were non-violent philosophies. I meant nothing more. I have been in fights in my life but I have never started a fight. I have cleared my wife's nicknack shelf after she hit me. I have done violent things to objects, but not people. So I guess I should have said that.

Hi all,

First my post was moved I can accept that. I have no intention of getting involved in dialog over the exegesis of scripture, other than to say that the longer I have been a Christian my understanding of the Bible has changed.

I have found that one needs to attempt to live according to there understanding of what the Bible says in order for them to obtain an understanding of what the Bible says that parallels mine.

I guess the intent of my post was to point out that, one needs to be free to choose different kinds of actions for different situations. That I don't believe there is a one form of behavior that suits everything.

You point out; I have cleared my wife's nicknack shelf after she hit me. I have done violent things to objects, but not people.

My response to that is Jesus did not respond like that when people harmed him. That kind of activity is fighting, it is mental violence, it is revenge and it is not love. It causes unseen damage to the other person, and only serves to add fuel to the fire. In fact I believe it serves to set one against you with a greater determination to cause you harm, because it makes it difficult for them to obtain an understanding from others that they have been injured.

Last night some friends of mine gave me some Hemp Hearts (shelled hemp seeds). I took about a half of a teaspoon and found it difficult to believe the effect it had on my fibro. Immediate results.

Immediate results = alleviation of pain = less stress.
Time frame = right away, right now, immediately.

I take it as it is by the teaspoon full as needed although they recommend that one take more. Not much different than sun flower seeds, only smaller, and they sort of dissolve in your mouth. It also has a taste that I love.

Being as every one is different, it may not work for you like it dose for me. so I recommend you do not purchase a large quantity to begin with, if that is possible.

Thanks, now that I have quit all pain meds, my pain is worse. So it would be nice to have something all natural that helps. I will try it and get back to you.

Yes, Darlene, is this legit (and legal)? I'm aware of hemp as the fiber of the plant (non-psycho-active). But seeds? Will the DEA come sniffing around, here?

If you feel it is not Legit and legal, would you please provide some evidence, or information, as to why it would be?

Hemp is a legal industry in and of it's self, Rope is made from it Clothes are made from it, and has been for a long time.

As with anything else some folks like to abuse it (extremes) and that is where the problem lies with it. When it is used to escape the realities in life that enable one to opt out of participating in a productive life is the extreme here that I am talking about.

Hemp seeds do not mask the problem, it is not a drug, it is a grain, and provides nutrients that the body needs.

It was only a joke. I know they are quite legal and certified to be 100% thc free. I was only meaning that here in CA and I am certain the same thing applied in BC, that they grow so much pot, and so many seeds are thrown out by people who smoke weed, that is it somewhat ironic after smoking marijuana all these years and throwing out seeds, that I would now pay for them?

Sorry my humor was so dry, but I thought you would get it.

I guess I was some what over sensitive, (not that my post was moved) but that it was given the title Bible talk. I really did not appreciate that. Given that so many who come here are so sensitive about that.

Not knowing who was responsible for that I was some what on edge when CJ (being a moderator) entered the picture here.

Yes Elizabeth it is ironic that many things that people throw away have an important value to them. I have learned to look for them, because they usually are cheap or free.

I also enjoy a dry sense of humor, but find it difficult (unless an emotion is used) to interpret things in a text as a joke. especially dry things

I am stoic and face to face you simply are unable to read my emotions, and I have lost friends when I have been joking due to there inability to interpret it as such.

As a result of that I tend to lean to-wards the serious side of things. Sorry for any confusion this may have caused.

I guess it is good thing that I do not aspire to become a woman due to the fact that I do not make a good mind reader. Had you not used the emotion that you were shocked it would have been easier to see your post as intended.

For those who don't know marijuana comes from the leaves of the Hemp plant, and is given to cancer patients to ease their pain. As with anything else it is the abuse of it that is illegal.

Hi Everyone.

I can't stay out of this one! I only first heard or seen the word exegesis in my electrical code study class Sat. It's great to learn.

The subject of the Bible, is, as I have expressed before. It is a dichotomy of ideas and moral values. It easily explains why there are so many chuches. From the little I know, I believe world religions have more in common than differences. A dozen passages in any religious book can in no way define god. All of you, I believe, can see the dichotomy in ourselves and others. There is a division in everything. When we can grow and learn and accept the divisions in ourselves we become happier and well balanced. I have see this growth in spirit in all of us this past year.

We all have the freedom in ourselves to define who and what we are. Some truths are universal. I heard on a religious program this morning again about recruiting money and signatures to support a ban on gay marriage. Those people witnessing about turning from their homosexual activities were so blatantly unhappy, I was surprised they didn't hire actors. If they were saved and had given up their homo activities and mental struggles, I would have expected them to show a little joy. I believe God always intended for us to be happy in our diversity. I also believe no one will know joy if they join in negative activities that tear down rather than build up.

I happily agree with what Virginia stated. We have a pretty good church right here. I see good in all of us. We demonstrate that in all our caring communications. I see a lot of building up and almost no tearing down.
It is so freeing to my spirit that we can discuss all issues without attacking one another! Never must we all agree! Without free discussion there is no hope anywhere for growth in goodness.
