I had a job where I had to walk on roofs. Walking on the slanted roofs, killed my feet. Even flat shoes sometimes hurt. Heels-forget about it, I can't do it. Maybe for photos but not for a long period of time.
I never really wore heels, it's always been flat shoes or sneakers when I'm dressed. Flat shoes were better to dance in.
I have a two pairs of heel shoes that just sit there, I might put dirt in them and grow flowers.
I have rediscovered the joy of buying shoes to make myself feel better. I've been through heck the last couple of weeks trying to get my car insured/licensed/registered/fixed, etc, and I needed a little lift. I saw this topic last night and developed a craving for another pair of high heels.
Payless are having their BOGO (Buy One, Get One 1/2 off) Sale this weekend, and I thought I might go there, but they're not open at 7am, when I got off work. I needed some grocery-type stuff, so I headed to WalMart. I expected to be disappointed, as their selection sometimes leaves a lot to be desired. I was pleasantly surprised. I found a pair of silver, open-toe slides with 4" heels, and they were under $20. They remind me of some of Sarah Jessica Parker's Manolos, but they were a fraction of the cost. I arrived home very happy.

I think I feel like Wendy. I have lost any selfconciousness I had. I go where I want and do what I want. I really no longer care what anyone thinks. I have too many regrets already about what I did not do. I shall not make that mistake again.
Beauty,
You look like a SuperModel in your lastest avatar. The streak seems to be unbroken. You go girl.
Jaye,
You look simply like a beautiful woman in your avatar. I am so happy for you.
You look simply like a beautiful woman in your avatar. I am so happy for you.
The image I chose for my avatar IS a beautiful woman, and I wish I were a fraction as pretty. It's cropped down from a photo of the actress Alyson Hannigan (she played Willow on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"). A friend of mine is a big AH fan, and he graciously allowed me the use of the image.
I got tired of not having a picture under my name, and that photo of Alyson kind of captured the mood I was in that day. I'll change it as soon as I can get a pic of myself.

Thanks everyone about the nice comments about the new avatar.
Jaye, feel free to change the picture, but if that's the way you felt that day then I'd love you to keep it as it gives us insight to your inner beauty. Seeing your picture would be great, but I happen to love that picture and to me it is you.
Outter beauty follows inner beauty. The fact that you chose that picture to represent you tells me a lot about you. You can see by my avatar I am not much to look at, but at the same time it does express how I am feeling these days.
The fact that you feel like a soft fragile woman is transmitted by the avatar. Although not realizing it was Buffy, who might not be all that fragle, that is what I saw. A soft person. I hope you are not offended by me pointing out the beauty of the picture, because I intended to point out the beauty in you.
Elizabeth, How do you know how to express yourself so well, and how did you know that i was feeling that and did know how tosay it. Your good, your very good. I would walk down the street with you any day and any time. I think you look terrific. By the way how's you and yours? ........Kristen

High heels place more stress upon the bones, ligaments, and muscles of the legs and feet than do lower heels, a fact that is well understood by practically all podiatrists. That added stress must be balanced against the gains in appearance, which also are undeniable. The added stress can be minimized by wearing shoes that fit properly, which for most of us means shoes that are both long enough and wide enough.
Personally, if I am not going to be walking much, I prefer 3½ inch heels, which I think are more flattering than flats. If I am going to be walking a lot, however, I prefer lower heels. If you look at women’s shoes designed for walking (e.g., the Nike Shox Allegria Walker), you will see that they position your heel barely higher than your forefoot, which I think is based on research on what causes fatigue. I grant that some people have stronger calves and Achilles tendons than others do.
"High heels hurt. They promote corns, blisters, bunions and a tilted pelvis. They give a mincing gait and most impractical of all, they get stuck in subway gratings, cracks in the sidewalk and the spongy floors of yellow taxi cabs. It’s a pity they look so sexy — and slimming — and make the simplest sundress or oldest jeans look chic.
Heels shave ten pounds off your derriere and make you feel a strange mixture of dainty and dangerous. They also have that trick of looking more comfortable than they are. All too susceptible to the front of a shoe (known in the biz as a vamp), I often forget to measure the heel whilst shopping. One of the benefits of buying shoes online is that heel measurements are exact, but one still runs the risk of getting a shoe that doesn’t give strong arch support or have a cushioned sole for the ball of the foot.
When it comes to heels it’s sensible to spend a little more. Designers like Christian Louboutin and Manolo Blahnik have built their reputation on shoes that look dainty but actually feel stable to walk in."
Things are beginning to settle down. There is happiness and love in my home again. We do indeed have a mountain to climb, but everyone seems up for the challenge.
Elizabeth, Happiness and Love can climb any mountian any day!! thanks for letting us know, love ,hugs, and congrats. .....Good news week!!!!! ....kristen
