TS wins Big Brother

Post by Rebecca »

Hi all,

If you are in the UK you just can't get away from big brother at the moment (no matter how much you try). Nadia, the post-op (I think) TS has been one of the favourites, and has actually won.

I'm sure there will be others with more info than I can muster, but one thing for sure,....everyone in the UK knows what a TS is.

Hopefully some good awareness will come of it

Love

YEP! it all helps ,

Last years Australian idol had a hetro/CD by the name of Courtney act , started as a " he"and was thrown out in the first round and then came back as a "she" to try out again .
She got as far as the top ten finalists and won the hearts of all Ausies.

I loved B.B this year! It was great to see Nadia accepted so readily.
Also, it was great to see Stuart in the house crossdressing and was readily accepted too.

TBS Unveils Latest Adventure in Reality Television: HE'S A LADY

11 Macho Men Step Into High Heels For Quarter-Million-Dollar Prize
on TBS's new reality series HE'S A LADY, premiering October 12.

ATLANTA, Aug. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- TBS, television's "very funny" network, is giving 11 macho men the opportunity to walk a mile in women's shoes when they are given a complete feminine makeover in the new original reality series HE'S A LADY. The show, hosted by Tony Frassrand (House Detective), comes to TBS from Evolution Film & Tape, Inc. (Switched!, Bands Reunited), with Douglas Ross (Bug Juice, TBS's The Mansion) and Tom Campbell (Boy Meets Boy) serving as executive producers and Tom Colamaria (Temptation Island) serving as supervising producer. Production is currently underway on HE'S A LADY, which is set to premiere on TBS on October 12 and will air Tuesday nights.

http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20040827/CGF029

HE'S A LADY opens as 11 macho men temporarily leave behind their wives and girlfriends for a chance to win a quarter of $1 million dollars. The guys think they're going to be on a show called All American Man, competing in grueling physical challenges. But the catch is, the guys will actually be transformed and given the chance to see what life is like as a lady, with one man winning a huge cash prize in the end.

Each week, the competitors will learn something new about what it's like to live as a lady, from dealing with bras and jewelry to bonding with real women in typically all-female activities. They will be judged by a celebrity panel of judges: Morgan Fairchild (The Seduction), John Salley (The Best Damn Sports Show Period) and Debbie Matenopoulos (Good Day Live).

Weekly challenges for the competitors will include learning how to behave like a lady, followed by going out in public to find out how convincing they are; being trained how to be a supermodel; planning a real wedding and then being asked to serve as the bridesmaids; and, finally, completing a multi-tasking challenge back in their hometowns where the guys must remain in character in front of family and friends. During their hilarious and heartwarming quest, the competitors will live in "The Doll House," a beautifully decorated dwelling designed to help them get in touch with their feminine sides.

The series will climax with a beauty pageant, where the competition boils down to the quarter-million-dollar question: "What, as a lady, have you learned about being a man?" The judges will then select the best man in the group, based on a variety of criteria.

Sponsoring the series is SC Johnson, which, in addition to product gration, receives tagged tune-in spots, on-air billboards, online exposure on the show's microsite and logo placement in print ads. SC Johnson products, such as Edge Shaving Gel, Ziploc and Oust, will be creatively incorporated into the weekly competitions.

Hi Sophie!!!! :)
Not to worry, given the lack of true creativity in the entertainment industry, I am sure UK tv producers will come up with a copy, or better yet, a show that goes a bit farther than this one. Can a complete TS transformation be far away on "Extreme Makover"? What about "Miss Trans-World Pageant"? "Miss Trans-Universe Pageant"? What interests me about this one is that reality television seems to be struggling to find new concepts that are "extreme" or "different" (to everyone but ourselves, of course  ) and or titillating (no, they have already done breast augmentation on extreme makeover, so that's probably right out!!! :) ) to make more shows around. We will know they are near the bottom of the barrel when they do one about bare knuckle fighting in the nude, I guess, or maybe "Deathrow, the Execution"?.

Actually, "He's a Lady" as a concept will be interesting on two fronts, 1) how hokey they will make it for "entertainment value" and to make it more acceptable to the religious right-eous, and those who will feel threatened and uncomfortable with the subject (so will the producers play the subjects "straight" or will they play them for laughs?) 2) what the viewership numbers and demographics turn out to be. ***huh***
There is a 3) too;, will the show run it's course or will it be pulled before it ends due to conservative objections?

Sorry, didn't mean to sound like a lecturer-- 'tis Monday morn, I overslept, and a stumbling, reflective mood is about all I seem to be up to, so far.

What about "Miss Trans-World Pageant"? "Miss Trans-Universe Pageant"?
Here She Is, Miss Transsexual
By Ed Palomar
Tuesday, July 27, 2004

LAS VEGAS - Chicago showgirl Mimi Marks has won the “The World’s Most Beautiful Transsexual Pageant,” which took place recently at the Riviera Hotel & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip. Marks competed against 35 contestants in what was billed as the first-ever beauty contest for transgender individuals.

Pageant publicist and promoter Wayne Bernath was bullish about the event. He told XBiz, “I was really blown away by the talent. I didn’t expect it.” Bernath stated that a second pageant would take place next year, and that it appeared likely to become an annual event in Las Vegas. He added that based on the abundance of talent displayed by the Miss Transsexual competitors, pageant promoters are looking into creating Las Vegas’ first transsexual showgirl revue.

Bernath also said the Associated Press, Reuters, and Agence France Press wire services released a photo of Marks. The publicist stated that 400 spectators filled the Riviera’s Royal Pavilion on the night of the finals. Bernath has been a publicist for magician Lance Burton and the Riviera’s Crazy Girls and La Cage revues

As in the Miss America Pageant it was patterned on, the would-be beauty queens had to compete in a number of traditional categories in order to win the World’s Most Beautiful Transsexual title. Among them is the Best Talent category, which was won by San Antonio’s Erica Andrews, who received a $500 cash prize. Marks told XBiz that she performed a Bob Fosse dance number during the talent competition.

In the other categories, San Francisco’s Lucy Ann Pereyra won $500 for Best Swimsuit. Las Vegas’ Tara Willow Desy won an honorable mention for Miss Congeniality. And in addition to winning the crown, Marks won $500 in the Best Evening Gown competition.

Up to $25,000 in cash and gifts was reportedly given to the winners in the contest’s different categories. The 1st runner-up was Erica Andrews, who received $2,500 in winnings. The 2nd runner-up, Lucy Marie Pereyra, received $1,000. As the grand prize winner, Marks won almost half of the prize money and presents. She received a cruise to the Bahamas for two, plus $5,000 in cash.

Marks told XBiz that she is currently “very single” and plans to go on the cruise around November. Marks said she has been a transsexual for 14 years. She works at a Chicago nightclub called the Baton Show Lounge, where she performs as a female impersonator.

Marks was interviewed while she cooled off poolside in a skimpy bikini at the Riviera, where she was trying to beat Las Vegas’ 106-degree heat. “The pageant went pretty smoothly. I’ve been involved with other pageants - for female impersonators - and there weren’t many glitches in this one. There was a good turn out of girls. Hopefully next year there will be twice as many girls at the pageant,” Marks told XBiz.

“I’m excited about and willing to work on future pageants with Norbert Aleman,” Marks said. Aleman produced The World’s Most Beautiful Transsexual Pageant, and produces the Riviera’s Crazy Girls show. If a transsexual revue emerges out of the beauty contest, and Marks is asked to appear in it, she told XBiz, “I have a job in Chicago I’ve worked at professionally for 14 years. So, to do another show, it would have to further my career. I’m open to hearing about it. It’s up to them whether or not they want me in the show,” said the reigning Miss Transsexual.

Asked what the significance of The World’s Most Beautiful Transsexual Pageant is, Marks eloquently replied: “I hope it opens up doors for all of us. Hopefully, it’ll become a situation where [transsexuals] don’t have to answer questions regarding our sexuality. Where we won’t have to explain ourselves every time. I’m sure Miss America and Miss Universe don’t have to constantly be questioned about their character. We’re human beings first. Everybody deserves the same rights, period. Nobody should be discriminated against. We should just be able to be who we are. I hope this pageant does this for all of us,” Marks stated.

The world’s first Miss Transsexual went on to say, “I’m a girl, I’m a woman – I shouldn’t have to explain myself.”

According to Bernath, Chyna Doll will discuss the pageant on Howard Stern's show on the "E" Channel at 11 p.m. on July 27. Doll has wrestled for the World Wrestling Entertainment Inc., and was a pageant judge.

Hi Wendy!! :)
Are ya' gonna enter?

Gee, looks like all my great ideas have already been taken. I should join a network like TBS and rip those ideas off for a "unique American slant", don'cha think?

Seriously, Thialand is really unusual in that they are pushing the TS/TV/TG stuff so strong. They have advertised as the sex change center of the world, have the crossdressing footboxer, and now this pageant. Must be the lack of the judgemental Christian religion as a dominating force in the society. ***huh*** I know from a cousin's description of his years stationed at an A.F. base in Thialand during 'Nam, that attitudes toward sex seemed free and easy, and I also have read about the rapid spread of HIV and the educational measures their govt. is taking to combat it. Seems like an unusual place from my perspective.

Thanks for the info. Obviously, I haven't looked for the pageant information on the net. "The Answer's are Out There!" :P
