I found the SCC site last week and its looks like a lot of fun. If work allows, I plan to attend as well. A forum get-together would be great!

Hope to see some of you there :)

Alexandra,

Sorry for the slow response, I don't have much websurfing time. I don't have a lot of details about the filmfest either, but here''s what I know:

Lola Cola(The SO depicted in the movie "Southern Comfort") is handling this, and as of late March she had 9 films and more coming. "Soldier's Girl" is one of them. I'll know more after the next Planning Comittee meeting late June(I think) and I'll post it here. Lola is screening ALL TG related video, amateur or pro, so if you ever thought you'd like to be a star then here's your chance! Just remember that copyrighted material will need to have a written release agreement from the owner/agent before we can publicly air it. And so far nobody has had a problem allowing us to do this which shows the good hearts of the TG Community!

The link for all the films featured in this year's film festival is now up, and can be viewed at... http://www.sccatl.org/sccfilmguide.html

Calpernia Addams will also be the Guest Speaker at the luncheon on Saturday afternoon.

Is anyone from the group planning to volunteer at SCC? I have been assigned to assist with the setup of lighting and sound for the main hall and will be arriving on Tuesday. I think Virginia had volunteered for registration. Anyone else?

I have been trying to keep a list of attendees: Me- Virginia; Angie; JoAnn;Cindy Barnes; now PennyT; Stef? Beauty?? WE almost have enough for one of the treasured 8 seat tables. It would be soooo great to have all of us together! And remember I will need some help zipping up my dress!
I am soooo excited, we may burn down Atlanta - again, - just kidding, just kidding, but it will be fun.

The SCC may have a presentation next year on how not to party to excess after this group is through. I, for one, won't be attending that particular session. Ha! Ha!

Girls,

Don't forget to sign up for Saturday night's "Walk of Fame"... They will rolling out the red carpet, turning on the spot lights and watching the stars make their entrance to the Hollywood Nights gala event. All you need to do is send pictures of yourself, as the star you are, to Ldychrstne@aol.com by September 17, 2004.

Hugs and Kisses,
Wendy

I plan to attend the SCC and I would be honored to be included with the group for a table at lunches and dinners.

Jamie Ann,
We would love the pleasure of your company!!! This is going to be sooooo much fun!!! Last night I tried on both my "formal dresses" when I was not in a cramped dressing room at a Goodwill Store. They both fit, but I still will need to have someone "zip me up!" I still say that sounds so sexy!

Hi, all!

So what is the recommended attire "strategy" for SCC? At least one formal outfit is a given. What are others planning to pack for clubbing, and daytime activities at the conference? Some messages on the SCC Yahoo group suggest business casual for the day sessions. Since I'm going to be there five days, I don't want to pack the world (or maybe I do, ha! ha!). What's a girl to do?

Sounds like our SCC table is getting bigger all the time. You go girls!

Take care,
Angie

Hey Angie,
Yea, I would think that packing the world would be a start.
Some of the girls that have been before say they change a couple of times a day, then different attire for evenings on the town. Now you have got me thinking am I taking enough wardrobe?? :-k :-k
Anyway, I have several more upscale slacks outfits for the seminars and probably dresses for evenings out. I would still recommend a conservative presentation for nights out and if you want to get sexy, probably best to do that in the hotel, among friends on the other hand going to TG friendly clubs would allow for a more risque approach. Hell, just be yourself and if someone does not like your appearance - TOUGH!!!
Just do your thing girl! You will be among friends and I don' think anyone will offer criticism of anyone else.
Love ya,

Hi, all!

One week to go!!! Who has firmed up their plans to be at the conference? There was a list going around several weeks ago, but a few were still undecided. Some of the ladies here have been going through rough times over the past several weeks and I wasn't sure if plans had changed. I would still like to share a table with any friends from the forum and would also like to arrange a group photo for those who feel comfortable in front of the camera.

Take Care :)

Angie,
We are going to have so much fun!! I will be driving a little red sports car, I just hope I can get all my clothes and makeup into it. I am getting so excited and I can not wait to meet all our sisters, you and Wendy and Joann and and I can't find my list but just look for Virginia at the Registratin Desk on Friday and we will try and firm up a group table for Saturday night and a group picture or three!!!
Love,
Virginia

Hi Angie,

Thanks for bringing this subject up. I am planning being at the SCC all day Friday and Saturday, arriving late Thursday night and departing Sunday morning. Others may be able to get more time off from work than I can, and may arrive earlier; however, the days when the most events are scheduled are Friday and Saturday, which I think will be the most heavily attended days.

Lunches and dinners are in the Grand Ballroom, which serves as a large dining area for groups the size of the SCC.

I guess the question we must ask is, “Where and when should we meet?” I believe lunches begin at 12 noon and it makes sense to get there on time, which means that getting into the area at (say) 11:50 a.m. would give us a chance to say, “Glad to finally meet you in person!” and similar greetings. As for where to meet, we need to keep in mind that there will be hundreds of people there, so we probably have to be more specific that just deciding be somewhere in the crowd.

When you are facing the check-in or hotel registration counter in the main hotel lobby, if you turn left and then go about 30 or 40 feet, you will see stairs and an escalator on your right, going down. These lead you down one level into a lobby-like area outside the Grand Ballroom, whose doors will be on your left as you walk into that outside area. If you keep going 25 feet or so past those ballroom doors, you will be heading up a few stairs to ... duh ... somewhere. We could meet in the area near that small flight of stairs. That would narrow down our meeting spot enough that we could probably find one another.

I am not really the leader type; I am more of a follower. I offer these thoughts simply to help keep a conversation going. Others may want to improve upon this suggestion for when and where to meet.
Take care,

Jamie Ann

Virginia and I can coordinate the group for the photo, if no one else volunteers. We'll both be easy to find since she's working the Registration desk on Friday and I will be working the Big Brothers/Big Sisters desk on Friday at 3:30p and Saturday at 10:30a.

Since Jamie Ann knows the lay of the land, let's take her suggestion. As for a time, well, that's up for grabs. Meeting during the day would probably be easier, but meeting on Saturday night before the banquet would give everyone a chance to be captured in their finest attire. Even if we choose a daytime shoot, we should still try to meet before the banquet if we want to be seated together. Again, it's y'alls call.

I think I've finally gotten my wardrobe, such as it is, together. Problem is, there's enough clothes for a month and probably 15 pairs of shoes. Something's gotta give!

Decisions, decisions...
