This is sad yet true, hon… I guess the upside to that would be what you said about pretending to be the Lone Ranger, or better yet - pretending to “blend in” with the locals if I were caught in a more dangerous part of town myself. In other words, in order to minimize my risk of being accosted, I would try not to look so much like I was “not in my area” or “lost”… But that never seemed to work either because even though I was never attacked, locals knew I wasn’t from around there and still gave me dirty looks… :?

Anyway, you are a beautiful person, inside and out, whether enfemme or en drab. And I feel sorry for anyone out there who does not see the beauty that we all see here. (--)

I'm real glad you started this thread, Aislin!! (--) And I’m very glad my story touched you. You’re not alone. The bottom line is we are who we are, and there are a lot of ignorant and immature people out there in the world.

A few weeks back, Maury did a show on people born with physical deformities, and the teasing and the comments they had to put up with their whole lives. I had tears in my eyes. Watching that program I became really disgusted over how the majority of this society perceives people based solely on appearance. It’s real sad and a very hurtful thing to have to live with.

But as long as we’re happy with ourselves and our own lives, then folks can stuff their stupid comments. I guess I apply that to CDing as well. (--)

In my opinion she is less fortunate than you. She is in her own self imposed prison, to which she holds the key and does not know it.#-o
You’re absolutely right, Darlene. I truly feel sorry for people like that. It’s always the ones who grew up “sheltered” instead of forming their own opinions who seem to have such a narrow view of the world. Another reason why I love who we are!! (--)

Oops! Didn't mean to ramble on so much, girls... carry on... 8-[

Aislin,, This is a very cruel world,While we have the freedom to be what we want, the idiots also have the freedom to be the way they are.
Everyone at one point in their life runs into someone who doesn't like them or fears them, it must happen to everyone. About the women who clutch their handbags or croos the street when they see you, while this seems bad it is their right to do this, they don't have to take chances. Alright the screaming lady was a bit crazy. Reverse the situation, let's say one of the girls here goes out for the evening. While she is walking(in drag) there are three men with skinhead haircuts down the block. Would you walk right up to them or cross the street to play it safe. This is the same feeling these women get when thet see someone they don't like, it is their choose to avoid you, and should be allowed to. In their head they see two choices upseting someone or maybe get bodily harm, they choose to upset. I know what it feels like to be hated, I get it from anti-gay, anti-punk, suburban idiots, blacks, guidos, jocks, and a host of others. As long as there is no violence involved, I don't care about their words or dirty looks, I've learned to shut them out.
Aislin,, this is easier said than done, but some how these people must be taken out of view, you must try not to see them,
Because the bad people are not going away, and you shouldn't either.

Nice post, Amelie! I like the attitude you're setting out here.

It's another reminder that the fearful ones are having to live in that world they've created, and we can't change their point of view in one instant.
